1975 - Operation Frequent Wind

Pierpaolo

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I would like to join this GB with an early F-14A Tomcat during his first cruise aboard the USS Enterprise

I have two suitable kit in my stash : 1/72 Hasegawa "Wolfpack“ box and 1/72 Fujimi "Bounty Hunters" box, I have to decide which one is the best for my purpose

See you soon for the ritual photos

Thanks for the welcome

I don't think I can build 2 models in the time that remains, I hope to finish at least one! (first i have to finish a Desert Storm A-10)

My subject for this GB will be NK-100 , the VF-1 CAG bird , s/n 158979

Both kit have decals for this subject but i will mount the Hasegawa one

As aftermarket i will use only two resin ejection seats

Was this the cruise where they pushed one over the side causing a mad rush to find it before the Russians?

I remember the incident but not sure of the year.

Hi!

Thank You for your kind words

A little step forward on my tomcat

I closed the front part of the fuselage with the cockpit (the one behind is an old tomcat built in 2002 as Fast Eagle 107 being restored )

I don't think I want to leave the cannon compartment open, it's just a test

Then I joined the nose with the rest of the fuselage

Hi

The deadline near but now I am more confident that I can do it

I had already placed some decals when I noticed that the anti-glare was missing

Absolutely stunning @Pierpaolo what a cracking finish. The subtle weathering and overall sheen is just spot on. That's the perfect aviation subject for 1975, something to be really proud of.

Cheers, well modelled and thanks for taking part.. Dave
