617 Sqn F35's are due to be embarked during this deployment which is the second deployment for F35 aircraft trials, Initial Operating capabilty is set for 2020

and the first operational deployment will take place in 2021

Great pictures. I wanted to get across to Portsmouth to watch her leave but couldn't make it.  That French frigate looks interesting. It's an old Georges Leygues class, been in service over 30 years!

Great pics, thanks for sharing them.  She is "mahoosive".  I believe PoW isn't far off a visit to Portsmouth - be great to see them alongside together.  Even more so to see them "steaming" in line astern just like some of the old shots from WW2 & into the 50s.

Question is, does the RN have enough people left to man both carriers at the same time?

It seems only two fitted, with a 3rd due - strange that hasn't been installed already - doesn't paint a good picture!  Hoping they'll be able to ferry back as many F35Bs as we have available at this time, much easier and a lot safer than flying them across the Atlantic
