Roof Rat
Hello I have a buddy who is about to start a conversion on a Tamiya 1/48 F-16C/N using the Wingman F-16D and CMK F-16I Sufa conversion sets to make a Singapore F-16D block 52+. His/my question is what type of Anti-Shipping missile would it carry, or other weaponry in the anti-shipping role. As always any information received will be gratefully appreciated. Cheers RR (Chris)
CT7567
Singapore was a customer for the air-launched Harpoon anti-ship missile (AGM-84), which the Block 52 F-16s are reportedly wired for, so that would be the weapon of choice if being used in that role. Note that Singapore's premier strike assets are actually their F-15SGs, which should also be Harpoon-capable. Factoring range/payload/loiter time as well as targeting capabilities, the Strike Eagles seem a more likely first choice for ship killing. Although nothing is public concerning their internal equipment fit, Singapore's Block 52 F-16s feature the enlarged spine originally developed for Israel and speculated to house ECM/"wild weasel" electronics. The Israeli "hunchback" F-16s definitely operate as multirole strike assets so a Harpoon-armed ship killer for Singapore is by no means ruled out. Assuming some degree of commonality in armament and role capabilities with the Israeli Barak and/or Sufa, some likely options from Singapore's known arsenal include AGM-88 HARM (SAM radar killing is a valid role at sea as well as on land), AGM-65 Maverick (potential ship killer though lacking range and punch compared to Harpoon), or various unpowered PGMs (e.g. Paveway or JDAMs - not sure which specific models Singapore uses currently). 5

Boman
Harpoons are rarely seen on the F-16D+ which the Vipers of 145sq are designated as. They do however carry all types of LGB/GBU's aswell as AGM-65's and the usual Mk-8x series.

cyanide14
Hi, Apologises for bringing up this thread. Are Wingman Models Conversion to F-16D still available commercially? Thanks!
exdraken
Isn't the D's spine generally housing the electronics that are displaced by the 2and seat?

Might be some fuel to, but generally ECM and other electronics.

Roof Rat
Hi exdraken Wingman use to include a canopy (Kinetic?? not sure) and according to the box tops shown in the links above canopy's are included, I'm not sure of there origins. I agree with your assumptions I also think Multicast could be/is a spin-off Wingman, and yes with Isra Cast connections. Hope this helped.
