Gmat
Might be of interest; Man searches in Chiba for crash sites of Japanese warplanes http://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/AJ201908300004.html I felt that I had to say that Sub Lt Fred Hockley is mentioned, but that is why I'm posting this thread here. Might be of interest for those who are interested in Hockley. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Hockley Not in intending to start a flame war. stevehnz
Something I've not had a problem with is honouring those who died in the defence of their homeland, pretty much regardless of their ideology. In a WW2 idiom, the bravery of German & Japanese pilots as they flew against allied aircraft attacking their homes & families is worthy of respect imho. Likewise North Vietnamese, North Koreans & a host of others in later conflicts. In any conflict on either side, it is worth remembering that the fallen are sons, brothers, husbands, boyfriends & the female counterparts of all those before they are protagonists or victims, something this gentleman seems determined to recognise. JPuente54
I wish him success in finding the aircraft and any remains of the pilot and/or crewman found in them. As @stevehnz wrote they should be honored for their defending their homeland. My father fought in the Pacific theater; he would have said the same.
