Greg Law
Alistair, The cockpit good. I almost got confused with your Do217N build and made a comment about it needing to be RLM66. This is the edited version of the post. 🙂

No work on them untill this one has been completed . Yep they will be in RLM66. I have a few Luftwaffe aircraft parts where the 02 hqs been overpainted in 66 so guess they were either removed from one aircraft and repainted when used on another 66 painted aircraft or a 02 painted aircraft was repainted 66 .

Like most S/H kits there are lots of seams to clean up but the parts lined up well ,which is good concidering all of the windows along top and bottom . I have tst fitted all of the glazing and the fit is also very good . Thought about puting the glazing in before attaching wings makes handling more dificult but i expect another round of sanding and i want to reduce the risk of dustentering the fuselage . AdrianMF
Looking great! I’m amazed at the level of interior detail on it and the masks look like they worked really well. It’s a whopper in 1/72 so I can quite imagine it’s a bit scary in 1/48. Regards, Adrian
Greg Law
It's big alright Adrian. I have the kit myself and was keen to build it. However, I decided to stick with the smaller planes for the moment. This is just in case I have to move in the not too distant future. Mind you I have broken that rule lately by starting the Heinkel He 111. I simply cannot wait any longer. Life is too short not to have a Heinkel in it... Anyway I'm enjoying this build. My one will be part of the PQ17 theme build.

Greg Law
Looking good Adrian. Good call on the pegs. I think it will need it. Surprising SH didn't allow for that. The Heinkel is still moving along slowly at the moment. I need to put most of my time into the P40-N as it's deadline is getting close. To be honest I would prefer to be working on the Heinkel right now, but I don't want to miss another deadline.

Mottlemaster
The Montex national marking masks have all been applied ,with great difficulty . The Luftwaffe crosses etc are far more difficult than something like a RAF roundel . Greg Law
Good to see some progress. I have a set of those masks for the Heinkel. The interior masks were good to use, but I don't think I will use the markings mask.with my shaky hands I would never get them to line up. I find they stretch out of shape far to easily for me to position accurately. I've got most of my masking done on the Heinkel. I will go into town tomorrow and get the polishing cream and see if I can get that glue mark out. Then I can put the fuselage together and really make some progress. I'm looking forward to see this one painted. Are you going to do the winter scheme or the summer one? Personally I prefer the summer one. Mainly because I think of the plane during the Battle of Britain rescue period or the PQ17 torpedo operations.
