Robert
Hello, this was suppose to be completed for the Specialist group build but l was unable to complete it till now. The kit is from Airfix and the decals from Caracal. l ended up using 2 sheets from Caracal as l messed up the walkways on my first attempt. The decals are excellent and the white is really solid. lt is painted with Xtracrylix Gloss Sea Blue and matt coated afterwards. I added the heat shield on the underside of the exhaust. Hope you enjoy it.. Robert Edited August 28, 2019 by Robert

Farmerboy
Super build on what I should imagine was a difficult kit to get to such a high standard.

petetasker
Very nice. Seem to remember doing one myself a long time ago but it was no where near that standard - lovely build.
Eric Mc
Very nice. I've always been interested in the U2 and its exploits. How did you find the kit to build?
Robert
@Eric Mc the kit is typical Airfix of the period, 1980s. Here is the as far as l got in the group build. The build was not too bad just need to use some filler around the intakes and wings. Thanks for all your comments Edited August 28, 2019 by Robert

Blue Monday
I recently acquired one of these. You have done a fine job on yours. The problem with the U-2A is what scheme to choose. BM.

I have one in the stash as I've always been fascinated by the U2, especially the early variants.
Space Ranger
Here's a bit of history. Note the date, over two years before the aircraft was publicly known. Edited August 28, 2019 by Space Ranger
72modeler
You see very few U-2's built, for some reason, but yours is the best I have seen, as others have commented. Beautiful finish, too! BTW, did you use the kit canopy? I seem to recall reading some discussion back in the day that the canopy was not quite right and to use one from an F-104 kit. Robert
@Tony Oliver yes they were painted Sea Blue. There have been photos on the internet showing them to be Sea Blue with chromate green internals. Regards Robert

USAF aircraft were black, but much later, they stayed bare metal far longer than the CIA aircraft.. Rob
SoftScience
That looks really great! I love seeing older kits like this being built up to the sharp look of more modern models. I had this one during childhood. I hope Airfix puts it on the re-release schedule.
