Clacton Airshow 2019

Recommended Posts

A friend and I decided to take a trip to Clacton on the so-called "Essex Sunshine Coast" for the annual air show.

The weather was perfect for sun lovers (and probably pilots), but terrible for photographers. The display line seemed to favour our friends in the Netherlands rather than the crowd on Clacton seafront, but that's enough of the excuses... The pictures below are more for the record, and will certainly not win any prizes!

My favourite display was without doubt the beautifully-flown Ultimate Fighters.

Love the MiG and the T33. Ironic that the weather should have made for perfect photography but in fact it looks like it was just too bright which must have been frustrating.

I know! We often complain about grey aeroplanes against a grey sky, but the haze and the position of the sun were a real challenge! I nearly deleted all my images, but decided to spend a little time processing them instead! I'm pleased that you liked the Norwegian Air Force Historical Squadron images.

Thanks Parabat. The only reason I can think for the distant display A axis was that the pier appeared to be open throughout the show.

It was the same at Eastbourne

Looks to have been a reasonable show, compared with last year. I vowed never to go again. You did well to get those shots.

Thanks. I must confess that I really struggled to salvage any images from the day due to the distant display line and the position of the sun. Would I go again? Possibly, but it will probably depend if there is a really interesting participant!
