Shermaniac
I've been needing an excuse to do this one. This is by TAKOM and represents a Prototype vehicle to superceed the M26 Pershing to combat the Russian IS-3 during late WW2. The war ended before this was completed and other options took over. Let's see what comes of this one after 24 hours (2x12'ish).

Shermaniac
A re-start at 19:20pm after a bite of Tea. And it was time for assembling the Link & Length Tracks The second set were a bit boystrous but I managed to wrestle them into place. The bottom run on each is not glued to ease fitting once painting is completed. Track Time was 90 minutes for both. Total build time so far: 10 hours 24 minutes
SleeperService
Good progress Fella. I've run out of likes today so sorry. Remember that Corporal getting all twitchy because I 'forgot' to mention I was an HGV driver? Happy Days.
Shermaniac
Last Dash. 1 hour on the tiniest bits needed to finish off the main construction and ........ PING! off goes a medium size piece (and a vital piece too), the Cupola ring! Part into oblivion so it's a Search Party in the morning as nothing found tonight . Here's the progress so far and almost ...... almost, ready for paint. Calling it the full 12 hours today. See ya tomorrow 2
Shermaniac
So, it's Sunday morning all bright and sunny. The missing part was found and is now fitted. All ready for paint. It's 27c here and this Stynylrez Primer is flowing great through the airbrush at 15psi. Engine Deck & Tracks in Black, Hull, Turret & Roadwheels in Sage Green. More paint later, just need Brunch. Time-Check: 11:46am Total today so far: 1 hour 36 mins (13 hours 36 mins)
Shermaniac
I gave it half an hour to dry then sprayed a top coat of ModelFlex Olive Drab-FSC34097 (as used late WW2 and into the 1950's). Whilst the Green was 'cooking off' in the incubator upstairs (flippin hot!!!!!! Phew!) I then made a mix of Vallejo Dark Rubber and Black paint & Dark Rust Wash which I scrubbed onto the track. Once that dried, a mix of Gunmetal & Steel Wash was highlighted across the raised areas and and Dark Rust wash infused to give effect. I then moved over to to the George Foreman Grill for a Chicken 1/4lb burger for lunch (40 mins) - I delayed Brunch a bit. By now, the green was able to support the next part but I can't find my masking putty (AGAIN!!!) so, it's MiG Maskol which will, of course, take a lot longer. Time-Check: 16:12 (3 hours 46 mins) Duration so far today: 5 hours 22 mins (Gross 17 hours 22 minutes) Masking now needs to dry off before the next part so it's time for a cuppa.
Shermaniac
The masking has dried sufficiently to proceed so, this next 30 minutes is the camoflage coat. I knew I had some MiG Washable White up there somewhere and, Yep! There it was (suprised I found it TBH). A good shake and a quick spray and ............................................... bubbly, blotchy, pooling Aaaaaargh!!! Can't do much about it now so, yer know what? It's almost a what-if anyway so...... I'll go with it, as it is Lets get that masking off before the paint starts to dry properly. OH! Well, Hmmmm Looks pretty good if I say so myself. Right! Time for all those Road Wheels (Oh! I'd also sprayed those too) all 18 of them Time-Check: 17:27 Crickey, that went quick Clock stands at: 6 hours 9 minutes (18 hours 9 minutes)

Shermaniac
Everything on hold at present, will be down at Central HQ on a mission (Mum's house, no drama). Duration unknown
SleeperService
Hope all is OK with your Mum. That's quick work and I applaud your decision to carry on with the white. In the field most look like they were painted using brooms, in fact they probably were.
Shermaniac
Unexpected time out sorting out a few minor issues at Central HQ which has swallowed up the last 3 hours. It's a restart at 21:17pm with the tyres on 36 Road wheels (18 sets) and, 14 sets of return rollers too All done, take a breath and glue them together Wheels on, Tracks on (sort of!) - despite using the jig to set them out, they don't 'quite fit' Again, I shall persevere with it and let a small (not that small) base resolve it - Well, with all the bity bits left to do on this I shall run out of days (not time though). Here's where I am at 23:20 tonight So, my build has failed to complete the 2-day section of the challenge but I shall finish and see how far I do get with the 24 hour building target time. Final tally for Sunday is: 8 hours 12 minutes Gross hours the project: 20 hours 12 minutes Let's see how far I can ultimately get in 3 hours 48 minutes. That, however, will probably now be tomorrow after I get back home.
