Courageous
Quick question: Does anybody ( @roadrunner ) know the paints required for the tricolour as i know I'm going to have grief with those rudder decals? Stuart

Stuart Hi Usually for my French rudders I use a PRU Blue and a bright red (not FS11136) Patrick
VG 33
Here is the result for a build close to yours. At the time I chose a paint close to the roundels which are decals. Patrick And the job previously in progress on an MS 406.

This lunchtime build has now moved home to where the paint booth is. I know I have a PRU blue but I'll have to see about the red, might need to pay the model shop a visit, oh dear . All being well, I can start painting this evening/ weekend. Stuart
Courageous
Well, what can I say. The suggested PRU blue is too dark, so its back to the paint search. Stuart

Stuart, you may like to Google "French Blue". For the time period, it's perhaps a much closer choice (if not spot on). I have in stock in both enamel and acrylic. Stuart https://www.humbrol.com/us-en/14-french-blue-gloss-14ml-enamel-paint.html But these two can be used, (depending on the hue) too: Humbrol 47 and 48 and https://www.modelcars.com/model-kit-zoom/model-master-acrylic-gloss-french-blue.jpg
fjaweijfopi4j48
Grabber blue may not be far either https://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Paint_and_Construction/TES00002764/product.php?gclid=Cj0KCQiAmZDxBRDIARIsABnkbYRG3XE6lbBJznvGAS7OvDG4ARAYoPgNfF2H7Sx_T0fLAhcveCbUj8QaAm5uEALw_wcB
Courageous
Tail markings, take 2. The blue is a mix of Humbrol 47 and 48, not quite there but it's as close as I'm getting. Stuart

Courageous
Tiny update. To 'tart up' the wheel wells, I pinched the idea from @Bengalensis and added some internal braces, painted them aluminium, then gave the wells a wash and highlight. Better start thinking about the Blue-black paint needed for this bird. Stuart

Courageous
Cheers guys. With the arrival of 'the' paint... ...MRP's Insignia Blue was my choice. I stumbled across a thread on another site that had images on the interior of a french fighter and when I saw the colour, I thought 'I am getting some of that' and I'm glad I did. Besides laying lovely, that blue-black comes across just right. Some gloss varnish applied to tail, ready for the decals. Stuart

It's a trick of light.I can assure you, it's well covered, especially when you consider it had a black base. 10 hours ago, Moa said: Looking good, Stuart, and getting closer to the finish line. Thanks Moa, i'll be glad when it''s finished, it has been a little bit of a love-hate relationship. 1 hour ago, Bengalensis said: good choice. I think so too, thanks.
