fjaweijfopi4j48
Your are doing a good job there taming the monster. Keep it up! Sooner than you think, with a bit of this and that, you will have a very nice model redeemed from the avernus. Courageous
Back to the work's workbench. I managed to drill a 0.6mm hole into each tail plane, fit a copper pin and placed on the model's back end. It was at this time that this kit gave me another bite in the bum with the tail being slightly deformed giving me a bigger gap on the starboard side as opposed to the port...bugger! A bit of head scratching then ensued. First the port plane, a wedge of resin was removed from the plane and a 1mm shim added and sanded. It fits quite nicely to the fuselage and the elevator hinge is nice and perpendicular to the centre line. All I've got to do now is replicate it on the other side but as can be seen from the top pic, the gap is bigger, so a little more tricky. fjaweijfopi4j48
Dear Stuart The dreaded Build of the Dujin Resin Kit was among the last challenges at the Shaolin Modelling Monastery. The aspiring Modeling Monk had to be in a deep state of meditation before even contemplating such feat. Master Sandpaper used to say: -"Little Grasshopper, when the Superglue and Maskol flasks are gathering cobwebs at the old hermit hut in the heavenly mountain, it is time for the crane to fly to Telford." Which doesn't apply, but sounds deep.

Lined up nicely. Kit resin option was crap, so i took a leaf out of @Moa's book and knocked up a set of wheels from O-rings, punched plastic centres and a thin plasticard 'bridge'. 72modeler
Stuart, Been watching this one with interest- looks like a hot rod C714! BTW, is this photo the same one as your model? I found it by accident just now, and although it's clearly a replica and has what looks like a modern cockpit, I thought you might be able to use it for the basic interior structure. Betting @Moa probably has tons of photos in his archives. I can see the influence on Tony LeVier's 'Firecracker' which is one of my favorite racers from the 30's- a really neat time period in aviation when the independent designers were far ahead of the big boys in performance! I have indeed a number of files on the Caudron racers (all types) but not much on the 724R, just a few pages with plans and a short article from a French Magazine with a couple of images. Meager, I would say, compared with other types. Still, I did not build a model of it yet, therefore didn't really look in all my books and related files, which may contain more, but would take literally days to browse. Courageous
Reference material is indeed vary scarce. It was never fully finished and was hidden away during WW2 and placed into the museum in it's current condition after the war. As far as I can tell, their is no undercarriage with the museum example and the kit example is speculative (rubbish anyway) and I'll be using early Caudron racers as reference. The best walk around in my view: Caudron 714R Stuart
Courageous
Getting over a lack of mojo. A small update but then again updates on this build a small. Wheels and undercarriage done to an approximation of what would've been there. The PE doors look a little awkward to do but I'll get there. And just for a laugh, here is the sliding canopy and I've still got to mask it! Stuart
Lightningboy2000
Superb work so far on this fascinating subject. That Caudron looks lovely & streamlined, very racy looking. Martin

AdrianMF
Wow! Just caught up with this. Superb work on whittling an aeroplane out of those blobs of resin. I like the O-ring wheels too. Regards, Adrian
Bengalensis
You're doing fantastic work on this little kit, it's very nice to see. I've been tempted by several of these Caudron racers from Dujin, but so far resisted. It's obvious they need quite a bit work to reach this level.
