Dave_R
Hi All, I wanted to build a German AFV for the D-Day GB (to go alongside a Churchill and a Sherman), so the plan is to build the Tamiya Stug IV to the best I can for the Blitz Build and then transfer it to D-Day GB where I'll incorporate it into a Normandy vignette of some kind - still to be decided. Here's the sprue shots:- It's an oldish Tamiya kit, but I expect it go together fairly easily. This is the vehicle I want to represent, a Stug IV of 17 Panzer Grenadier Division, Normandy 1944. ... so roll on Saturday. Dave.

Dave_R
Hi All, I'm ready to go, a little later than I wanted - but last weeks work schedule has left me sleep deprived. So let's turn this pile of plastic into something. Dave.
Dave_R
Hi All, Approx. four and a half hours in and this is where I am. The hull halves aren't joined yet and the tools etc. need the flash scraping off, but I should be able to get it primed this afternoon. But first a short break for beer and sandwiches. SleeperService
I feel rather inadequate at the moment. Stunning start there Sir.
Ted
That was quick. And it looks good. Priming feels like a distant dream to me at the moment.

Dave_R
Hi All, A Black Stug. I think the compressor has had enough time to cool down now - so on with the Dunkelgelb. Dave.

SleeperService
Saw the black undercoat and wondered but it's worked well. Nice work shown off by a nice bit of paintwork.
Jinxman
Very nice - a bit of camo & weathering & it's done!
Dave_R
Hi All I'm just about to start the second 12 hours. Wheels next - 32 wheels @ 3 minutes per wheel = 96 minutes = Dave. 1
Dave_R
Hi All, The wheels are done. That's one boring job done to be followed by the tricky job (for me) of freehand airbrushing the camo. Dave.
Dave_R
Hi All, Well the camo. went as well as I could hope for. I'm going have a little break and figure out what's left to do. Dave.
Brad
That's pretty good. Remember these things were probably camouflaged in the field, so the paint would have been slapped on without much care maybe by the crew themselves.
Dave_R
Hi All, So, everything's done apart from weathering. I'm going to take a sanity break now and pick it up again about 7:30 giving me two hours to do a basic weathering job. Dave.

SleeperService
Very nicely done Sir! I agree with others that the camo does it's job. Very nice scheme.
Dave_R
Hi All, Well, the basic weathering was a lot more basic than I wanted - but time and energy have both run out. I did my usual black oil paint paint thing, but it hasn't had time to dry and appling weathering power on top of that is asking for trouble. So I'll have to leave it for now. I was looking to push the limits and I think I found them. Gallery photos may have to wait till Tuesday, it depends. Dave.
