Pappy
G' dasy again, A quick one for the VW gurus out there. I have a 1/24 Revell Mk.1 Golf GTi kit and I have a question regarding the bonnet underside. There are some oval cutouts on the underside. Should the underside just be the same colour as the dody or was there be some sound proofing or other material inside the oval portions and if so what colour should it appear? cheers, Pappy
Marco F.
Hi Pappy, I'm 100% sure, but for my opion it was all painted steel without any sound proofing. I owned a Golf MK II a couple of years ago which also didnt had the sound profing mats. The bonnet was made out of two metal sheets and the inner side with the cutouts was to strengthen the whole thing Cheers Marco F
richellis
I’ve one in the garage, there is no sound mat under the bonnet, just painted metal the same colour as the rest of the body. Most golfs didn’t get any sound insulation till late mk3s. The bonnet is made from a flat pressed sheet for the top, with a second shaped and pressed part for strength on the underside
