Richard502
Applied the masks this morning, hoping to paint tonight. As far as I understand the correct/safe procedure is to spray a coat of clear first to seal the edges, paint later? I am trying two approaches: red stars on a fully painted Yak-1b, and red on bare plastic on a Lagg 3, camouflage colors to go over the red (for the stars). For how long can I leave the masks on the model before some sort of damage to the paint job occurs? If there is anything more , based on your experience, please do let me know! spitfire
I always remove masks as soon as possible, firstly because I want to see the finished result and I am impatient and secondly I do not want the paint to harden and be pulled off when I remove the masks. When I paint the bare plastic first I leave the masks on right until I am happy with the paint finish but before airbrushing the matt or silk coat. Gloss finish is due to Xtracolor paints not varnish Cheers Dennis
dov
Hallo The way as you do it seems good. The result shows me exactly this too. Carry on this way. Happy modelling
