Hi
The work with the 25 continues.
I've got the silvery part of the belly done, and I'm about to start with some of the other metallic colours.

I've to get the dark grey radomes fixed tonight.

I've set my self a deadline to have this clear coated by friday night. I've got the coming Monday off work. So I plan to spend Sunday and Monday doing the several hundred of stencils that will cover most of this aircraft.

To be continued.....

I'll do a second coat tonight, and then this will rest on Saturday.
On Saturday I'm going for a day trip to Mariehamn on Åland with family and friends.
But on Sunday I'll start a stencil marathon. :D

I had planned to work with the stencil two full days, but life got in the way.
So this is what I had time for.
More will come during the week.

Hi,

The work with the stencils continue with glacial speed.
One aft section has got 13 stencils.

And the pylons and missile rails has got 40 stencils on them.

During our daytrip to Åland I found a Fiskars barbers scissors at a fair price.

It's very sharp and functions very well to cut out these small decals with.

Hi,

I managed to find some time to continue with the stencils this weekend.
Most of them are done now.

Wings,

The sides are really covered in stencils.
48972697807_1f97442104_h.jpg122 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

Not so many on the topside.

But the Kh-58's really take the prize.
21 stencils per missile, adds to 84 stencils.

After the marathon session I had did my eyes need a rest, so I've only done one missile.
So I got three left to do during the week.
And when the missiles are done the total tally of decals and stencils on this bird adds up to 284.
I really thought it would be some more when I started.

looking great!

your topside is really colorfull! weren't they either black OR blue? sorry do not fully remember ;)   but then it is an Iraqi Foxbat! prove me wrong!

the missiles really look the part and the stencils make them come alive even more! worth the effort in my opinion!

You're right Werner. :D

They should be black, but I couldn't find enough black one, so I used a couple blue one instead.

I totally agree with you on the missiles.

They look great when the stencils go on.

I'll post a picture of them when I'm finished with them.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi.

I havn't had much bench time the last couple of days.
But I've done some small work each day, and suddenly a whole lot has been done.

I've got the wheels, covers, stabilators and the droptank in place.
49050053666_a675338640_h.jpg127 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

And some small antennas as well.
49049550908_4b1e37d451_h.jpg128 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

And the Kh-58's are mounted on the missile rails.
49050053816_8e5b8d1dc7_h.jpg129 by Bosse Persson, on Flickr

And with that it's now just a matter of getting the canopy, pitot tube and the missile pylons in place.
I hope to have this one in the display cabinet before the weekend.

Hi,

I didn't manage to finish the MiG-25 this weekend.
Overtime at work and family life came in the way.
But I did manage to get the pitot tube in place.

Sine I took these pictures I've sanded off some CA glue and primed it for painting.
I'll paint it later on, and perhaps in a few days I'll have it in the display cabinet.

Hi

This week I've had about zero time for building my kits.
The only thing I've had time for is to paint the pitot tube.

Which means that the only thing left to to is to get the canopy in place.
And that's exactly what I plan to do when I get home from work later today.

Hi,

I've now finished my MiG-25. :yahoo:
I glued the last few pieces on it yesterday evening.

First the hook that fires the brake chute.

Then the front screen.

And the canopy and it's support.

And then it was done.  :D

And now it sits in my display cabinet.

Besides it's younger brother.

Rather big boys. :D

This was a fun build.
Difficult sometime, but fun overall.
I did some mistakes on it.
But perhaps the next one will be easier.
And speaking of the next one.
If the Interceptor GB will go ahead, I'll enter with a Syrian MiG-25 PD.
So until then.
