Fine Molds 1/72nd Y-Wing

Recommended Posts

I actually built this a couple of years ago, but today came across some photos of it, so I thought I'd share them. It was a fun build, and even more fun to paint and weather. Paint was all Tamiya, decals settled down with Walther's Solvaset, and weathering done with a combination of oils, Flory Models Black Wash, and various Ammo by Mig enamel washes. Weapons damage was sprayed using my Badger Renegade Krome.

Very nice build. 👍

Wish Fine moulds (or Bandai) would have done a 1/48 scale version to go with the X-Wing and TIE.

Thank you! Yes, that would be great.

Great looking Y-wing ! :clap2:... I agree with Karl a bigger scale Y & B wing would be the best.

Thank you! Oh yes, a B-Wing in that scale would be in the stash immediately.

Lovely work! Nice and grungy, like Y-wings should look.

Thanks, Andre!

Excellent looking Y-Wing John. Wish someone would re-release the kit, as it was one of Finemolds best.

That's very kind of you, Andy - I nicked the idea for tinting the canopy from your build, actually 😀.

Maybe Revell will? I have yet to build the Bandai offering, so it's going to be interesting to see which I prefer - if it's anything like the A-Wing, I think I'll love it.
