Mike

Site down this morning

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

The site tripped over its shoelaces after an automatic upgrade this morning while I was still snoring in bed.  Once I was feet down head up I informed Support and they rebooted us, and with a little tidying up of the debris caused by the fall, we're back online.

If you receive any error messages, can you copy & paste them into a PM to me, explaining in detail what you were doing at the time, and we'll look into it.  It should be ok though, but worthwhile saying none-the-less :)

Anyone that's met me will know that's a lie <_<

Just in case anyone is finding the forum home giving them an error message (EX1194) when they're not logged in, this is a known issue since the crash and we're working on it with Support.  One thing it has done is increased the number of lurkers "de-cloaking" so that they can access the forums.  Sorry about that folks, but it's good that you're joining up, and now you can be active members of the site

Yep, just tried my tablet and I'm getting EX1194.

Sure it wasn't the straighteners?

Yes, I keep getting EX1194 but I don't live anywhere near there.

Thank the Styrene Gods there's a 6 hour time difference between ol' Blighty and the Aboreal North of Canada. Plus I slept in quite late today. All was fine when I came here this afternoon.

Once you log on that goes away, so it's only the lurkers and infrequent viewers that are affected.  We'll get it fixed though :)

That's a good thing then, although I'm not sure which version of windows you're using if you control it with a cane?  Windows Dom?

I've just checked this again now, and it doesn't seem to be happening for me anymore.  I'll look into it a bit more anyway, but it seems to have gone away at least for me.  Anyone else?

All was well when I just logged in Mike, and could even look at the forum before I logged in too.

All the best,

Ray

Thanks Ray - I need to get some more timescales on when people were/are getting the error, as by the time Support rocked up, they couldn't replicate it, and neither can I today.  IIRC there are some automatic routines that I set up on a cron job to tidy things up from time-to-time, so the error might have been fixed by one of those.  It's so long since I did the configuration that I'm forgetting most of it :dunce:

Hello Mike, if it helps I got that above message (error code  EX1194) yesterday (27/7/19) when I went onto BM at approx 10.30am and also approx 11.30am.  I still managed to log on okay then, it was more by luck than judgement that I 'discovered' that I still could, computer itillerate (sic) as they say! I did not go back on BM later, if I remember correctly. I use a laptop, Windows 10 and Chrome as the browser.

Cheers, Ray

OK for me this morning too Mike and I'm also not getting the (same) error when I log in.

Looks like it may be fixed :clap2:

Spoke too soon - it's back!

My 'routine':

- Log out of the site

- Leave the 'Logged Out' window open in Safari and close the app

- Open Safari, click the 'down arrow' at the top of the screen

- Enter username and password (actually OSX does this from my Key Chain) and click to login

- Get the error screen (I'll try this again and log a screenshot)

- Click the 'Exiting User' sign in button

- Enter details

This second login works fine.

Edit: Worked fine that time although a bit slow. Could this be a server load problem?

Oh, and while I did that, the 'images don't post and edit box remains' problem:

As previously mentioned, refreshing the page is a workaround to this issue.

You log out?

And back in..

I must be doing it wrong, I just close the window un-outlogged

Is that wrong Mike?

Nope! :D I never log out - just close down the browser.

Incidentally, the new update has arrived, but I'm just hanging fire in case there is a new glitch they discovered once they released it (this does happen occasionally).  It's been available for 2 days now, so I've just got to check something else is ready before we can install it :)
