If only one could get a Hasegawa 1/48 TA-4J, at a reasonable price as well.

Depends on what you view as a ‘decent price’. I bagged one recently for less than £30, though the upcoming release might make them available for a lot cheaper. Looking forward to this conversion kit.

HLJ has them available to order for $24.77, or roughly 19.90 of your English Pounds + shipping of course!

Yep! £19.90 plus whatever shipping then add in import tax and the PF 'ransom' and you're likely looking at well over £30, so pleased I bagged mine when I was able to.

I suppose that's one good thing about HLJ's private warehouse feature. Just wait until you have a large number of items and then ship them all at once. You'll pay the VAT on the total value of goods plus shipping, which will be less than if you had the items shipped individually, but only one charge to PF.

Now ‘that’ is a good idea. Shame I didn’t know this a few years and a lot of stash ago.

Thanks for the info on the kits fellas. I'll probably just buy a couple of the conversion sets and wait on the kits themselves. At least this way I can clear some shelf space by getting rid of the couple Monogram kits I already have.

It’s a very easy conversion if you cross kit a Hasegawa TA-4J with a Hasegawa A-4M, no cutting of parts or kits required, everything is included in those kits to make an OA-4M.

I don't know...how will the TA canopy fit with the hump?

Well, it is reasonably easy.  It is not quite as simple as a "cross kit":

http://www.arcair.com/Gal13/12301-12400/gal12360-A-4-Braman/00.shtm

The hump needs to be modified.  The port intake needs a small inlet carved out.  Neither is particularly difficult, the trick is figuring out the locations and dimensions.  And, if you wanted to get fussy, the rear part of the OA-4M canopy where it meets the hump is a little different than that same bit on the TA-4.  I didn't worry about it, just like I didn't worry about the fact there are some slightly different radio controls in the back seat.

But yes, it can be done, and you can still build the M kit as an early version without any problems, provided you have decals for one.  However if you want a TA-4KU/AF-1A, you'll need to rob the larger A-4M intakes as well, which makes building the rest of the A-4M kit "difficult".

Getting ready for some Skyhawk Love! Masters for the 1/48 OA-4M and TA-4KU will arrive tomorrow and be in RTV by tomorrow night! Gonna do a lot of pre casting before opening the links though. Still catching up on other orders!

These will be external updates and I will also do full meal deals including two 300 gallon tanks and two seats as well. Gotta say I am pretty stoked! Thanks Gabe Pincelli for making these!

A good chunk of the Skyhawk masters are here (not all before anyone says what is missing like hot dog fairing etc) and these things are stunning. Left to right, A-4M/Super Fox intakes (these will replace set 48042), TA-4KU/AF-1A intakes, OA-4M/OA-4AR intakes, canopy fairing and antennas, OA-4M/TA-4KU/Af-1A hump, And the OA-4M nose. Hope you like. These are iPhone pics. Better shots later. These guys are going swimming in RTV in about an hour!
