John
My son and I are heading into the deep south for a couple of days next week and visiting Leeds. We'll make time to see the Royal Armouries but what else is recommenced for the visiting kitbasher around the city centre? John
cmatthewbacon
How are you getting there? Are you mobile? There’s really not a lot in the city centre... Train to Keighley, though and a trip on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway to Haworth will bring you to the excellent Pennine Models. Halifax has a top notch model shop as well... best, M.
Silver Fox
Leeds City centre is a desert for anything plastic. There is an ok shop at Crossgates but not really worth the bother. The best shop for miles is Halifax Modellers World. It is near the station and is well worth a visit. I regularly drive 35 miles there and back because I know it will have what I want, both in kits and modelling tools, paints etc. Just don't go on a Wednesday as it is shut.
fatfingers
As Silver Fox says - Leeds is totally devoid of any model shops in the city centre. Halifax Modellers World is BY FAR your best option if you have the time. Bankfield Museum just outside Halifax town centre has the excellent Duke Of Wellingtons Regimental Museum. Free entry too but closed on Monday's. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Steve
John
Thanks. We're coming down by train and Wednesday will be our only full day in Leeds. The Royal Armouries are our target for then. John
Silver Fox
The Armouries is a good day out. They have Sibornes small Waterloo diorama, and the cases at least tell a story. Originally it was just pieces of armour and no words. The re-enactors are usually good as well.
