shortCummins
While I was waiting for the Microscale Liquid Decal Film I decided to add the kit supplied stencil graphics and some others from the spares box. Now that I’ve received the Liquid Decal Film I can continue with the home made decals following Corsairfoxfouruncle’s excellent instructions on how to use the decal film. As I said previously the nose art was created in illustrator and needed a white base to highlight the tusks and teeth so the area was masked and a base of white was sprayed. The decal was then cutout and then placed on the white background. The squadron logo, a vampire skull was also created in illustrator and also need a white base. The nose art, aircraft ID & vampire skull. The Players Navy Cut ad’ decal was applied to some thin (10 thou) plastic-card cut to shape and nailed to the fuselage. Here’s the decal and plasticard “panel fix”. The decal has been stuck onto the plasticard and turned over to ensure that the decal covers the plastic. Once the decal had ‘dried’ it was cut to fit the plasticard. And fixed to the fuselage. Weathering next. until next time as always, any suggestions, criticisms or comments will be gratefully received. rgds John(shortCummins)
Thom216
Looks cool and 'other worldly.' Will you be adding more 'patches?'
Pete in Lincs
The new additions look great and I love the skull! It should be a compulsory kit bash standard marking.

shortCummins
Small bits’n’pieces, that hopefully I won’t knock off, were added to the airframe, Corsair exhausts and rear landing gear. I had thought to “close” the rear landing gear however I wanted to break-up the rear fuselage lines as I think its a better look. The landing gear needs a bit of touching up. All of the decals were given a coat of aqua gloss to protect them. Tamiya panel line accent color dark brown was used to fill all panel lines. Thom216 suggested that part of the exhausts could be blued to represent heat-staining, such a good idea, thanks Thom216. The Players “panel fix” was given darker edges and rust streaks, 502 Abteilung oils were used for this. Gun stains, fuel spills and other grime was added with various 502 Abteilung oils. Next I’ll be adding the underwing armaments. until next time as always, any suggestions, criticisms or comments will be gratefully received. rgds John(shortCummins)

Thanks for the support Thom, its appreciated, I hadn't realised how difficult weathering a NMF aircraft would be, I think it still needs a bit of work but she's getting there! rgds John

shortCummins
I really wasn’t happy with the weathering so… I use highly thinned, 90% thinner 10% paint, Tamiya XF-64 NATO brown was applied in several light coats to build up the exhaust stains along the fuselage. I'm much happier with that. Next will be the under-wing armaments. until next time as always, any suggestions, criticisms or comments will be gratefully received. rgds John(shortCummins)
shortCummins
The anti-glare panel and other bits of “paintwork” were given a coat of vallejo matt varnish and the it was time to bolt the bombs and rocket launchers under the wings. Spitfire bomb’s were added to each wing Two rocket launchers were added to one wing. The “big” bomb hung under the fuselage was from the Corsair kit. The other wing had the Mossie’ bomb. A cluster of 4 Bf109 bombs and a ‘large’ German?, it came from the spares box I think it was also from a 109, were attached to a rocket mount from a Hasegawa P-38. Lastly a bomb from the P-47 was fitted to the outer wing. This is what she looks like fully loaded. I’ll be building the stand next. until next time as always, any suggestions, criticisms or comments will be gratefully received. rgds John(shortCummins)

Tzulscha
Enough weight on that left wing to counteract the propeller torque? This really comes together nicely. All the bit look like they were meant to be one airplane. Very pretty! 1
