Looks aluminum to me with possibly a white rudder.  Note that it has a shorter fuselage and wings than the production versions.  However I remember from the Roden kits that apparently the D.1 was also built in a short and long fuselage variant.

Yes, thats my impression to. An "aluminiumgrey" fuselage and wings with an white rudder. Also noticed the "headrest" on top of the fuselage behind the cockpit.

 

I have an idea of building that aircraft by using the shorter Roden fuselage and some "wingcutting"...

I went over the instructions for my WNW D.1 and it has the shorter fuselage.  The main thing would be knowing exactly how much shorter the wings were and if there was a difference between the length of the prototype and the short fuselage D.1s (although I would make an educated guess that they were probably the same or the difference would probably not be that noticeable in 72nd or maybe even 32nd scale.
