Boscombe Down Museum model show 11th Aug

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I just thought I would throw this one up in good time. Entrance price has been reduced to £6 this year which is a good thing after previous years pricing policy. Put it your diary and come and support the event, even have a look around a few aircraft too.

Shame it's so far away from me, I'd love e to have a look around the museum.

Hoping to get along to this, possibly as an exhibitor or failing that just as a punter. Looking forward to it :)

Could this be the last such exhibition at this venue? I saw on the local news tonight that the airfield is to close in October, and all aircraft owners have been served notice to quit! :(

Something about a planning application for 400 new homes adjacent to the field which was booted out by the council.

According to the museum staff the request to remove aircraft from the airfield WILL NOT affect the museum other than the increased vacant space (and loss of revenue?) caused by the removal of the flyers hangared in part of the second aircraft shed.

Somebody in work told me this, this morning. As above housing has been refused so airfield owners are selling. It will not affect the industrial site.

A sign of the times . So many of our airfields are disappearing …. and so too the history.

I've been told that our club is intending to arrive around 8am for setting up, so in all probability it should be open earlier than that for trade etc.
