Yeovilton 2019

Some images from this year's Yeovilton air day. Unfortunately, the majority of the day saw the airfield covered in thick grey cloud which wasn't great for photography. There are another ten or so images on Flickr.

......I think my favourite is the Wessex.

I tend to agree. Who is operating the Wessie?

Although I do rather like the French Alize, Paris, Magister/Zephyr trio. Very nice.

Thanks for sharing.

Were you at the grandstand, mate?

nice :)

No. I think all the enclosures were sold out. I only decided to go the day before the show. I was situated quite a way behind the crowd line to the left of the tower.

Great shots, shame the weather didn't play ball!

It was. What the photos don't show of course is that it was actually pretty cold in the morning and only really started warming up from lunchtime. I don't think I was the only one regretting leaving my fleece in the car.

All the planning and organisation that goes into events such as this and then the weather doesn't play its part. Still a nice day out though.

Ben Dunnell did offer some background on the Wessex and its restorers but I wasn't paying attention.

Yes, we tried the grandstand too but, as you say, it was sold out. Instead we settled down along the fence beside the VIP area. Shame about the weather!

Very nice pcs and a good turn out of participants. Some interesting types.

I wanted to go but an unfortunate event involving me, my car and writing it off a week or so before hand scuppered any chance of going and to any future shows this year.

The 'jetman' is a young man called Sam who was on the same design course at Loughborough uni as my son. To the best of my knowledge he went to gravity industries for his year in industry and helped to develop the flying units for his final year project. A lot of the pack has been 3D printed in metal... As a part of the end of year design show he flew it around the campus and got it shown on the BBC.  He did look like he was enjoying himself at Yeovilton. They are all graduating tomorrow so I might go and introduce myself....
