The Specialists II - open to themes?

Recommended Posts

I wonder if a SEAD/Weasel/SAM/AAA GB could generate enough interest on it's own?  If there were no objections, I could start up a thread to get a feeler.  Having spent time working on Prowlers, this particular discipline is near and dear to my heart.  ^_^

Gonna go check w/ Col. to make sure the inclusion of SAMs & AAA aren't stepping on his toes for his Interceptor GB proposal.

How about VIP transports?

Could range from a helicopter to a Royal Train; from a Royal Yatch to a Staff Car; from a dedicated royal/presidential aircraft to a specifically-charted civilian airliner...

Could this cover Corporate aircraft like lears, Gulfstreams, and Citations. What about corporate conversions like B-25's and A-26's post war in the late 40's and 50's ?

I agree without doubt so go for it and sign me up for sure.

If any of these look to be real winners then i would suggest they should have their own thread.

I suspect a "War Games" GB could support it's own weight as well with the Aggressors, Red Flag, RIMPAC, Tigermeet, etc.  Against my better judgement I'll get those balls rolling and we can see how far down the hill they actually roll.

@Arniec I'm sure you have something in the stash (probably multiple things) that would be perfect for whatever gets up :D

@Corsairfoxfouruncle you'd have to put everything under "Engineers" and see what shows up, anything else and you just won't get the numbers, even to go as one of the themes for this GB.

@zebra, Special Forces does sound interesting but I don't know about the number, Emergency Services/SAR would be an interesting one.

@andyf117 @Corsairfoxfouruncle VIP Transports is something a bit different, I think opening it up to include Transports as well would be a good way of getting the numbers and including other really interesting vehicles!

Actually that maybe the perfect name for it. The only issues maybe proving the eligibility of the War Game/Exercise equipment as a lots of them didn't have special markings. So you could show up to this build with anyone model and sort of be eligible. So it's best open to builds that had special marking either for the Meet/Exercise, Aggressors speak for themselves.

No love for Flak? Might give the mud movers something to build and there's plenty of tracked AA kits on the market, not to mention stand alone AA guns and SAM systems.

Flak will also fit within the Interceptor GB :)

while looking for something else I came across this, which got me thinking of another theme......though slightly bonkers when you look at the gear!

http://armamentresearch.com/ares-research-report-no-1-improvised-employment-of-s-5-air-to-surface-rockets-in-land-warfare/

Technical's or Field Improvised Equipment!

I mean who wouldn't want to build a Toyota Landcruser/Hilux with a UB-32-57 rocket pod mounted to it, or DShK heavy machine gun fitted to it. Aviation, well there is the famous/infamous "Toilet Bowl" bomb fitted to a Skyraider, or the "kitchen Sink Bomb", again on a Skyraider this time in Korea.

Besides these "One off" oddities there were a lot of field improvised gear used, for this a photo would all that be required to be eligible. So another idea?

Inspired by reading Lemmy's autobiography, what about Keep Us On the Road - fuel carriers and refuellers from things like the humble 250 gallon US tank trailer via any number of utility ships to the not so humble Victor K.2?

I was just trying to get a feel of what subjects members would be interested in.

Once the bad jokes/bun fight poll is over I'll revisit this and start sorting out a list......and a poll as well for the final 3 or 4 choices.

The original philosophy was to help good ideas for group builds that would not make 30 on their own.  So rather than think of new ideas there are a few good ideas on the table fitting this already. Ideas like the 'Arctic GB' ,'jeeps' , 'halftracks'  and airliners. All great ideas but not getting enough support.

Probably need to ask the proposers if they are interested to join.
