perdu
Hot tip number one If your spares box got depleted in the eighties when you gave up the hobby for over thirty years make friends with someone who makes many and various models and hangs them from his ceiling He doesnt need these I desperately did Ced the postie came and gave me box of excitement and discovery Thank you mate, you're a gentleman 5

perdu
Yes of course he catalogued them H, I'm sure but I think he forgot to send the list with them No doubt in the post Tony I am a bit in lurve with them myself, Eduard do some interesting etchery Unlike Airwaves Recognise this Tony? I have been racking my brain seeking a decent cone shape to form the filter cone around when I took a look at the lathe and a closer look at the centre pointer But when the cone was shaped I found I needed a smaller point to allow springinginginess I tried that large paint brush ferrrule but in the end I formed it round the point of my HB pencil But the cone just does not convince me The instructions advise cutting out the plastic mesh from the kit filter and forming the mesh around the skellington left behind Kinda unconvinced, what say youse?

TheBaron
Tricky. Those 'several dimensions at once' problems always give me nightmares Bill and ye dreaded 'spring' is no friend to the yearning modeller. Is that brass thick enough to be annealed in order to make it more liable not to spring-back after shaping?
CedB
Nice work on the canopy Bill - even the 'working-it-out buck' looks good to me. And those seats - ooooh 13 hours ago, perdu said: Thank you mate, you're a gentleman You're very welcome 11 hours ago, hendie said: I hope he had the decency to sort and catalogue them all for you Bill. They were sort of catalogued hendie, in a musical way, in an earlier post. Want it again? 🎶 'Some big ones, some small ones and some with a bit of paint on…' 🎶 Other than that they were just carefully arranged (ahem) to fit them in the box for posting. I know nothing about wheels. Hate them 11 hours ago, perdu said: The instructions advise cutting out the plastic mesh from the kit filter and forming the mesh around the skellington left behind Small innit? Looks too big for the part though… but wait! If you did cut out the 'mesh' on the plastic couldn't you glue the PE around the remaining bit? THAT looks to be about the right size? 1
perdu
Well yes, er no, mind you missis let it go Which is the general drift of my "overnight-wake-up-thinking" call There are (possibly) a couple of dozen/hundred holes in each etch piece which simply do not look like the mesh on the real filters Neither does the brass framing match in any real manner the quite solid lumps of ally/titanium/quite-stiff stuff the framework is made of Conclusion of woke Bill, ditch them and stick with the kit bit The real sand filters can be 'see-through' from behind but in the context of a 1/72nd scale model the angles you can view-thru are very limited and I just don't 'see it' as worth the hair tearing Better to concentrate on what I can improve/detail So the nose cone, anyone know what the paired on both side sensors in the glazing do?

Getting the big bird in the air yet? Yep OK and still alive. Done no modelling for about a year since I did that Dauntless. Pretty busy at work and I'm shooting the odd weekend. I've been picking up the odd bit for the stash and the wokka has migrated to the bedroom . I've been thinking about picking it up in the autumn/winter. I was on with a 1/32nd Avenger but that's sat on her piano and has been for a year. On the bright side - I just picked up an No1 Mk1 SMLE - 1906 which is the mutts. I've filled the slots on the FAC and and toying with adding another 7.62 and picking up and SLR with wooden furniture. Anyway. I need to get back on the models. I check in on the forum from time to time to see how peeps are getting on. All the best fella. Si
perdu
My first rifle shooting was as a cadet firing the number 4 rifle but if I could own and shoot a rifle of my own it would be a wooden furniture SLR Wouldn't it be nice... Stay happy mate It's still there waiting to be finished. I'm just having a look at a 1/32nd Trumpeter Avenger I've not touched for over a year and toying with sorting the kit out and making a start again. I'll keep an eye on your baby Wokka build Cheers Si
perdu
This has not been abandoned but I have given more time to the H-19 lately I have, however been working to get a decent nose out of my moulded unit Look, the mysterious glazing mounted sensor set. And gentle adjustments to the cabin roof join This gives me this, when all is said and done Held in place by a combination of Cockpit Glue 560 and UV setting clear adhesive Joints to fill round the edges now but on the whole, finally happy It has been a case of ' hold the nerve and get it done' with this end of the Wokka. So fill, then detail the underfloor area which was a disgraceful fit, entirely like every other Wokka build I have seen ( yet to be seen, whether I will have the same problem with my 72th scale Italeri MH-47M?) Off to detail finish a Whirly now, ciao

It isn't too difficult Chris as I am sure you know A drop of Vallejo Silber on the top of a fresh, pointy cocktail stick Carefully sight it and lightly touch each centre spot, both sides then take a craft knife to the stick and whip off the very tip leaving a blunt dibber of the best size fit you can guess then a drop of Vallejo Weiss RAL9001, 71.270 which is a nice off white not quite cream When the silver dots are dry then go back to each dot with a small dot of the Weiss allowing a slight overlap all round Et viola, sensor sets drying in the sun... (other atmospheric conditions may prevail)
perdu
Then when dry add trailing wires in towards the middle shield from stretchy sprue (OK OK stretched runner, all right Hendie we did listen honestly but old names persist) I used grey sprues from the spares box which seems to be waxing in my declining years, what did I do wrong huh?
