PK-413 Matchbox Chinook HC1 …

Recommended Posts

Nah, I haven't got a T7 (other numbers are not available either)

Poor thing lost her wingtips too, shame.

Anyway, if we bear in mind that I have limited compressor time hereabouts how is this looking to you?

Obviously much more paint to lay down in each panel, but how does that green look to you?

Humbrol 163, I get a feeling I can live with that once the demasking is done

OH arr the other one nose surgery underway, can I leave anything alone?

:(

The green looks good on my screen - but then so did the first grey, so don't listen to a word I say!

The pic was a Meatbox being carried by a Chinook because I couldn't find one of a Wokka lifting a Frightening - so meant purely for illustrative purposes only!

Well I do declare, I have a new favourite acrylic paint

And it is the quite venerable Humbrol Acrylic Paints, here we have numbers 163 and 164 doing what I frankly wasnt sure they would be up to.

There is a slight sheen on 164 but I  recall seeing that on an info sheet sometime ago

163 could be duller due to the treatment this little pot has had in the past, even a liberal splosh of Rowney's Flow Enhancer I recall

But the colours are exactly what I would have hoped for

Mixed with a little water to unthicken the contents of the pot and two drips of Flow Enhancer to help it flow through my airbrush

Me likeee!

Now flat black paint or a reduced black like Nato Black or Tyre Black?

Decisions huh...

NATO black Bill. Camo looks the dog’s.

Ditto x 2.  Defo NATO Black.  Even with an extra drop or two of white to lighten it a tad more IMHO.

Found I had the Modelair NATO Black so I've tried using that

Demask on the morrow but looks not too bad at present

Of course there will be varnish coats that can protect the weak, thin layers

Glossy first that will allow transfers to go down nicely, then matting it all down

Where did I put those darned rotors?

A day of gentle remediation beckons

definitely a Bluetak handling deficit here, the 'tak' obviously didnt press down enough here at the front

One or two places needing better greens before we finish

And at the back a failure to close the masking gives me more work to do

As with the chaff? flare? doohickey there are a couple of minor masking tape errors too

OK let us see...

The grey and the green look good on my screen Bill.  I’ve used Humbrol acrylic light aircraft grey (166) in the past but I’ve never thought of Humbrol acrylics as the ‘go-to’ paint.  P’raps I should invest in some.  I’m really not sure who does the best 1980’s Dark sea grey/dark green.
