My decision is made Andy, want a special scheme Wokka?

I am making a 'standard scheme' one in gn/gy/bk

I got a bit lost trying to follow which one you’re doing now Bill.  Is it one of the ones in Andy’s terrific photo’s or some other one?

Excellent work, as is usual in your threads. If you haven't cut out all the seats yet, how about reprinting them as red lines on white paper, then dyeing?

Don

That is the way I am thinking at the moment, there has to be more thinking done (but at least I have the engineer's panel sorted now)

The smaller holes need redoing to make them more distinct and easier to cut out too

Steve I have decided to make ZA714 EX the one with the Secret Squirrel*, which does not seem to be the one in the special scheme at the time which means that Andy is welcome to the Modeldecals sheet if he would like it

Andy no the image was not the ideal size :)

I measured the inside of the PK-413 between the tail and the windows and reduced the image in Paint Shop Pro 4 which I have managed to reinstate into the computer at last (My old CD from one of the Computer mags with a freebie in was decreed unusable by Win 10 when I tried to load from it)

I find it is the simplest image manipulator out there but more sophisticated than my other free prog, Paint

After measuring the length I needed I printed it out to a size that looks right with regard to length and seat back height

If you want a sized copy when I have it to suit I can PM it to you

*Seems right and proper to me...

I could probably guess some of the gear inside there but since it is irrelevant to me I am not about to make any guesses

Or attempt to put in any comms gear or such that may be relevant to ZA714s career

I will work up a pair of squirrels, are they LAG would you reckon?

I will pop the MDsheet in the post this week before I forget

I opened the seats image again and negatived it then coloured it and now there are no more black outlines to fight

Tedious trimming now ensues...

And all that woad`

Oh wait woad was blue wasnt it, this is another dyed fabric

The seats cut out of thin copyer paper and dribbled through the dye pot

I think these look better than the ones from the old artwork, no black smudges as here

P1010488.jpg

I have just a couple more to cut out of my prints then I can find out if my calculation of  the size needed was OK

Flippin' 'eck Bill, you cut out all those little holes and stuff by hand??!!

I know patience is a virtue but that's taking things to new heights…

Great job matey :)

My first thought, except I used a different word to 'flipping'...

Superb work Bill.

They certainly look the part - and hopefully after all that cutting and dyeing, they will be the right size!

Nope

They need reducing even further, fortunately I have now prepared one that is the right size

The holes were easy using my 1mm chisel to slice squares, wont be quite as easy this time but I have decided I only want one Wokka this time round so I'm not doing two sets

(Image 96mm wide on PAGE SETUP Andy, I could send you a sheet of paper the size that fits inside. Sixteen seats each side)

Yes Andy that is the image complete with the skinny border outside the frame

I can send it to you if you like

I sized it by sitting the paper cut outs alongside with minimal gap like the 'inside' photos I have in my file

Ooops. Sorry I'm (very) late, page 4 already! I have a note from my Mum..........

How I missed this I just do not know. Lovely build so far of a lovely helicopter. They have been active down here of late, ferrying the green men out of Hamworthy all over Studland and the local vicinity. Beautiful noise.

I'll be quiet and watch now.

I wonder why...

I cut out all of my seats and dyed them scarlet, as planned

But it seems I have to risk making each one different or make myself a folding jig so the seat panel joins the frame at the same place

Dohh, where's me 0.024" polycard?

And the new six inch rule?

Back later chaps, hopefully with pictures

And maybe an H-19 with controls in and masking going on...

OK , jig made up and used to fold seats and the first seat is glued to the front rail

P1010489.jpg

A length of Evergreen as you'd expect, Vallejo paints Silber brushed on

Now a row of seats in place but I am a bit concerned

Gator's Grip, never feels quite grippy enough to me

P1010491.jpg

This bit was relatively easy,  now comes the difficult-er bit

Putting the rear rail on when there is no 'real' location for it

P1010494.jpg

Two six inch rules used to locate and settle the rails as they dry

And finally (for this stage) the pair of rails in place

P1010497.jpg

Now I will build the lower structure with its curved cross pieces and place the legs on

After that is done I can work out the actual location of the upper straps and back rests, then make the upper straps to the length they need

P1010493.jpg

While the Gator's Grip has been deciding to stick I have been populating the rear frame structure in the cabin with some pipes and hydraulics devices

I have no intention of putting in the myriad of pipery that nestles inside the frames, a few representative ones is all

P1010496.jpg

Just a few visual delights huh?

;)
