HT C-47 'Drag em Oot' - COMPLETED

Recommended Posts

After my flight in Drag em Oot (whilst photographing air to air with Miss Virginia) and with Headcorn being my local airfield and a slight affiliation to Aerolegends, i thought it poignant to make a model of her using the Kits World Decals.

Few AC and inflight shots.

Didnt take any further sprue shots as its been done a few time so on with the assembly.

Fuselage halves prepared and with added seating. Drag em oot can have this style or conventional seats arranged.

So many apologies with this one but found some time to get some progress on her and i think she'll be done for the weekend.

Anyhoo lets get on with the build.

Following on from the interior getting a coating, the fuselage halves were cemented together. Dont recall any vices however persuasion is required along the seem line.  The join does seem to leave a bit of a gap and its not very refined, probably due to the soft plastic.

The wing isn't really a problem until you go to fit the wing fillet. I dont know what was wrong with mine but there was a bit of a fiddly join at the leading edge.

Whilst that was drying out with the extreme metals. for the engines.

Engines fitted with a little bit of oil staining.

Cowlings didnt cause me any headaches either. Air intakes also cemented in ERROR as will be seen later.

Sitting ready for the next stage after further sanding and filling of the joins.

Nasty join requiring attention.

Once primed she was given a dark shade of OD.

Then a lighter shade for the weathering effects. Also started to mask up for the d-day stripes.

And Voila.

Now i mentioned the intakes. Well they were the wrong ones for a C47A but ok for a Mk.III as per the boxing and instructions.  After seeing and being inside  Drag em oot these had to be changed to the earlier type. so choming them off and then cementing the correct ones on. This wasnt an easy job as tamiya cement does melts plastic to plastic very well.

Undersides were airbrushed NG and then the U/C was cemented in place. The UC is a little complex and fiddly.

So thats all for now, onwards and upwards.
