Hardtarget
After my flight in Drag em Oot (whilst photographing air to air with Miss Virginia) and with Headcorn being my local airfield and a slight affiliation to Aerolegends, i thought it poignant to make a model of her using the Kits World Decals. Few AC and inflight shots. dnl42
Looking forward to this! IIRC, the aircraft name was something the pilot's Canadian grandmother used to say.
Hardtarget
So many apologies with this one but found some time to get some progress on her and i think she'll be done for the weekend. Anyhoo lets get on with the build. Following on from the interior getting a coating, the fuselage halves were cemented together. Dont recall any vices however persuasion is required along the seem line. The join does seem to leave a bit of a gap and its not very refined, probably due to the soft plastic. DSC_0001 by stuart wellard, on Flickr The wing isn't really a problem until you go to fit the wing fillet. I dont know what was wrong with mine but there was a bit of a fiddly join at the leading edge. DSC_0002 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Whilst that was drying out with the extreme metals. for the engines. DSC_0008 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Engines fitted with a little bit of oil staining. DSC_0009 by stuart wellard, on Flickr DSC_0010 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Cowlings didnt cause me any headaches either. Air intakes also cemented in ERROR as will be seen later. DSC_0011 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Sitting ready for the next stage after further sanding and filling of the joins. DSC_0012 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Nasty join requiring attention. DSC_0013 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Once primed she was given a dark shade of OD. DSC_0014 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Then a lighter shade for the weathering effects. Also started to mask up for the d-day stripes. DSC_0015 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Stage 1 DSC_0016 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Stage 2 DSC_0017 by stuart wellard, on Flickr And Voila. DSC_0018 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Now i mentioned the intakes. Well they were the wrong ones for a C47A but ok for a Mk.III as per the boxing and instructions. After seeing and being inside Drag em oot these had to be changed to the earlier type. so choming them off and then cementing the correct ones on. This wasnt an easy job as tamiya cement does melts plastic to plastic very well. DSC_0019 by stuart wellard, on Flickr Undersides were airbrushed NG and then the U/C was cemented in place. The UC is a little complex and fiddly. DSC_0020 by stuart wellard, on Flickr So thats all for now, onwards and upwards.
