Hi Guys

I am about to launch on a Light Car Patrol Model T and am collecting up some bits and pieces.

Does anyone know where I can find a couple of 1/35 SMLE rifle scabbards? I've searched the net without any success/

Tamiya do a British WW1 infantry set, possibly a source there but that's just a presumption.

I just carved one out of 3 laminations of plastic card.

I took the shape of mine from one in a museum.

Sadly the Tamiya WW1 Infantry set does not include the rifle scabbard, possibly because its cavalry I suppose. Cant find one anywhere.

I suppose Ill have to try Black Knights suggestion.

Unless, of course, anyone knows differently???

The Tamiya set is the ICM set re-boxed.  The ICM set certainly contains at least one SMLE bayonet scabbard with attached trenching tool handle (as was often done).  It also includes a few other potentially useful bits and pieces (see below).  MiniArt have recently released a set of inter-war civilian fuel cans with brand decals, some of which are appropriate for WW1: the 2 gal types.  Panzer Art also do some commercial 2 gal cans in resin (don't use the Texaco branded ones - post-war) and some plain WD ones but you'll need to amend WD to WO and change or remove the WW2 date stamp.

Oops - you meant scabbards for the rifle itself, didn't you?  my mistake.  They would almost certainly have used the cavalry pattern unless they had some made up locally.  They were a relatively simple shape to carve, as suggested above.  Not available ready-made anywhere AFAIK.

Masterbox do a pair of WW1 cavalry figures, the British figure does have a rifle in scabbard.  https://www.panzermodels.co.uk/products/masterbox-1-35-british-and-german-cavalrymen-wwi-era

Don't know whether you would want to go to the expense of buying a set just for the scabbard, though they do look reasonable figures.

Thanks Guys

The photo of the scabbard will come in very useful as I am pretty sure I'll have to go down that route. Thank you. I do have a section of SMLE rifles which will sacrifice their butts to the cause!

And those look like lovely cav figures, but I need two scabbards and that route would be far too expensive, but thanks for the tip
