MikeyJ
Brings back memories of a house move we did years ago, i burnt a half built model of Billings Boat's Lila Dan that someone had given me because they couldn't finish it and i was finding it too difficult for my skills at the time. I wish i'd kept it now.
ArnoldAmbrose
Gidday, My first ever scratch-built ship was a model of the Graf Spee I built in 1973. It was made from balsa from two photos and a diagram, was 26 inches long and 3 inches wide (the width of balsa sheets). It was extremely simple (read 'crude') but I was proud of it at the time. The model succumbed to an engagement with shore batteries many years later - my son and I threw rocks at it in a pond one bored afternoon. The model was too crude for me to regret it but I wouldn't do it again to any of my other models. Regards, Jeff.
