matford
Looking at what photos I can find (going by serial numbers), Mk.Is appear to have the later larger wing root of the Mk.IIs, not CUs. Is this correct of just my imagination? Did the Mk.I have a canopy horn alarm? - can't find any photos of the starboard side. Is there any reliable wing panel drawings? Anyone know the codes for these II (AC) Squadron Mk.I and Mk.IIBs AH850 AK107 AK144 AK146
BS_w
the wing geometry is same for H75/P36, H81/P40s and H87/P40D up to N: - chord wing root: 108 in (at center line a/c) - chord wing tip: 46.6 in - span 37 ft 3 in 1/2 - airfoil at root: NACA 2215 - airfoil at 197 in: NACA 2209 - dihedral: 6° there was a u/c horn, but I not located it Edited June 14, 2019 by BS_w
Ossington 2
Can't help you with your serial/code combinations. Closest I can get is: AH916 XV-U AH934 XV-W AH942 XV-S (all Mk.IIA's) JDR Rawlings, Coastal, Support and Special Squadrons, p.11.

My gut feeling is that yes, they did have it, but I haven't bothered to check that feeling. Edited June 14, 2019 by gingerbob

Sorry, i didn't undestand correctly. the leading edge wing fillet was the last model on Tomahawk I, the cabin air intake was in the starboard fillet.; On the first P40Cu, the fillet was smaller so the air intake was visible on the wing leadig edge

Anyone know the codes for these II (AC) Squadron Mk.I and Mk.IIBs AH850 AK107 AK144 AK146 The wing root fairing was replaceable so. doesn't necessarily correspond as a given that an early product aircraft would have it entire life The early product aircraft that may of left the factory with the smaller original root fairing could (and would) have the later larger fairing fitted... The larger fairing was a needed aerodynamic fix If you at photod of early cu you will see some retrofitted with the larger one than you can see it by the mismatch panels Dana Bell saw the smaller fairing in photos of the early cu and then did the research to find the documentation. .. If I recall it was a fix for a stall issue So the serial number is not a predictor of seeing the smaller versus larger fairing...it's the time of the photo. 72modeler
@BS_w, IIRC, the warning horn for the u/c was either on the LH side of the armored backplate that the headrest was attached to, or towards the front of the cove behind the fixed LH rear quarter plexiglass; I'm not sure which location is correct. See item 7 in section 1 of the P-40 manual I have linked to for a description. I did find a photo that I cannot post a link to that shows the horn in the front part of the LH cove of a P-40E, and it is labeled 'landing gear warning horn.' Perhaps you have a better photo or diagram somewhere in your extensive references? Best I can do, sorry! BS_w
on P40/H81, under the left rear vision there were the fuel cap filler forward and oil cap filler at rear. on P40D & up, the filler was on fuselage so the horn could be fiited at left side under the rear vision glass.(on N model, a warning light on instrument panel replace the horn) On some Kitty there was a hole on right side, it was a filler for de icing fluid. I do not found any info about the location of warning signal in P40, B&C manuals. In the handbook of H81A(RAF) it is written "warning signal Klaxon in the cockpit", I think it was as on P36, between frames 1 & 2 at left side or frames 3 & 4 right side for french Hawk.
