V1 kits?

I built the Tamiya 1:48 version, comes with a trolley. A bit pricey for such a small kit. It worked out to almost 1$ per kit part when I bought it years ago. A nice quick build though

There's one on eBay for under 15$/Free shipping, scroll down to see others. https://www.ebay.com/p/Tamiya-1-48-Fiseler-Fi-103-V1-Flying-Bomb-Model-Kit-61052-Tam61052/2254455386

Bill,

I can't help you with 1/48 kits, but I have the 1/72 MAC Fi-103 unmanned  and Fi-103 IV single-seat manned kits. MAC also did the two-seat trainer as well as the Loon, which was the name of the ones tested by the USN. The two kits I have are very nice, with recessed panel lines, a trolley, and in the IV version, a fairly decent cockpit, which could use some extra detailing. The kits also come with a small fret of etched parts. The only real accuracy issue I can recall (Started the IV but lost interest due to lack of cockpit references at the time, and have yet to go back to it.) was that the pylon to which the engine was attached was either too narrow or to wide, but easily fixed in either case. You could also do a search for kit reviews, but the ones I read when the kits first came out were pretty lame, which sadly seems to be the case with a lot of reviews found on some of the popular websites. There are some good 1/72 scale drawings out there- I think I used the ones in the Monogram reference book on Luftwaffe Jet Projects, Sorry I can't be of more assistance, but hopefully this will be helpful until somebody with a lot more knowledge than I do on this subject appears.

Mike

There was an old 1/48 kit from Testors/Italeri in the 80's. I built a couple of them for a B-17 testing them in the late 40's. Don't know how accurate they are but they looked the part.

There was an old AMT Meteor Mk.1 and V-1 kit back in the late 1970s  -  https://www.scalemates.com/kits/amt-825-gloster-meteor-mki--265374  - I inherited the V-1 parts at some point from someone  and still have them somewhere , very basic and from memory probably less than ten parts involved . . . . . . . . . .  Correction just looked at the instruction sheet on the Scalemates link above - 7 parts.

Dragon has a V-1 in this 1/72 Arado Ar234 kit: https://www.super-hobby.com/products/Ar234C-4-w-V-1-Huckepack.html

I believe that Italeri used the same V-1 moulds in their 1/72 He111H-22 kit: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/italeri-037-heinkel-he-111-h-22--121588#

Having that kit in the stash, I can confirm that.

It even contains the trapeze parts of the Arado Hückepack setup.

Cheers,

This is the Hawk kit, from about 1958. Very likely a lot better than the AMT...

I remember building a 1/72 FI103 and Natter dual boxing from Heller many years ago. Not sure if it is still available.

I have this Encore re-pop in my stash.

I can remember having this kit, and the Okha, one Christmas, very early 1960's.  I particularly liked the fact that there was interior detailing and that you got orange plastic flames for the exhaust.  I thought that was great!

Not long ago it was, from Argentina. As I understand it, most of the Heller moulds sold down south are still in production. One for @Uncle Uncool perhaps.

Yes, you're referring to Modelex. They sell several Heller kits under their own brand for up to 200ARS. Their Mystere 20 is garbage.

The Frog V-1's  (on the Ar234 and with the Spit XIV) are quite old and have several inaccuracies. Of course this also goes for the reboxes (Revell, Novo, etc).
The forward fuselage/nose cone is too short and the pylon for the pulse jet is incorrect, just to name two more prominent mistakes.
Given its age, probably anything that looked remotely the part was acceptable at the time of its first release.

Fonderie Miniatures would also resort to using "they're" Heller moulds, IIRC. Well, yeh, they did.

Cheers,
