Mae west painted up last night. Also added a satin varnish to his Irvin Jacket, which was a bit worrying at first as it seemed very dark ,but over night the jacket has gone back to its original shades - phew;

Handy having your own Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel (Louis) for reference;

So painted up the 1/24th version;

'Actual size'

In between adding the various layers of blacks/greys/whites onto 'Louis' I also got on with the pilots '1939 pattern flying boots';

Where's Your Head At? (Basement Jaxx)

Need a coat of matt varnish as does louis, and the boots need some light dirt added to them.

The 3 piece suite arrived yesterday, garish doesn't come close, so a 20 minute dip in AK's extreme metal cleaner (that stuff should come with a health warning - smell is horrendous and potent) left outside and then a wash in hot soapy water removed all of the decal/print on the chair. A coat of primer revealed that the pattern is actually embossed into the seat so a rub down to get everything level and then a coat of Vallejo putty, smoothed out with a brush was applied.

This has since been sanded back, so ready for another coat of primer and then good to paint (red)

Looking great so far.

I nearly bought this at Darlington Sword & Lance but held back because I had quite a few other projects underway.  Seeing this has really made me wish I'd got it.

Roger.

Chair painted, good test of the 'red paint set' which is very good. just waiting for the plinth so i can put it all together.

Looks like I need to invest in some AK paints to try and get a decent finish for my figures . . .
