Avereda
I’d like to join in with Airfix Willys Jeep (the 70th anniversary boxing), stock photo for the time being as I need to have a bit of a dig around for the actual box.
Robert Stuart
Oh, yes, please. Welcome to the build - I've been wondering if an exmple of this would be included.

Excellent, hopefully someone else will have a crack and make a decent one 1
Avereda
Box located so here are the contents; sprues, starter paints, brush, decals and instructions- much as you might expect. If you’re building the British one then don’t chuck the box away as the paint scheme is on the box not in the instructions.
Avereda
State of play just before teatime today. The first six or seven steps have been completed and the lamp on the driver’s side has been lost, I can live with that to be honest. A pot of Tamiya XF 27 for scale.
Avereda
I’d been having a bit of trouble getting the steering column and wheel in the right place so I thought I’d have a bash at some proper modelling. A bit of brass tube was CA’d in place, a thinner tube stuck inside and an appropriate hole drilled in the steering wheel. Not exactly high end engineering or an overly taxing problem to solve but I was mightily pleased with the result.
Robert Stuart
A good solution to getting the steering wheel right - I'll try to remember your approach for when I hit a similar problem.
Avereda
A few steps further forward this weekend. On with the Mr Surfacer 1500, followed by a bit of highlight preshading which is just about visible under the Light Olive.

I’ve started adding a bit of colour to the interior (only one coat so far), as you can see I started painting the seat framing in dark grey but I’ve changed my mind about this. Once the stowage and wheels are on I’ll fiddle about with some weathering.
Avereda
Not a lot to report but I’ve added a bit of weathering on the seats and the wheel arches. Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade have been sloshed around the interior and Wilder Light Dust weathering oil in the crevices.
Avereda
And now with the missing parts that everyone had been too polite to mention. Once these have been painted I’ll get the decals on.

Avereda
Wheels back on - weathering time. I have a largely uninformed and non-scientific approach to weathering. The plan for this vehicle was to slosh about some Wilder’s light dust, add a bit of texture with Citadel’s Terminatus Stone and tone everything down a bit with Agrax Earthshade. I was sort of hoping this would match the kind of muck thrown up by the geology of Northern France, I did 3 months digging up Roman archaeology in Brittany in the 80’s so I can claim some past familiarity with the local natural. The photos are unforgiving but I’m happy enough with it through my tired old eyes. Inevitably, the wing mirror was lost from one drop too many. Happily it evaded the carpet so can be reaffixed. Whilst I’m spreading good news, I’ll be handing my retirement notice in tomorrow which means I’ll be a free man come early 2020 - happy days.
Avereda
Just about got it over the line, can’t remember the last time I completed a GB so this is quite pleasing. I’ll sort the gallery photos later.
