stevehnz
I like it Shellie, that wash does lift that fairly plain scheme. Steve.
Shelliecool
Back at the build after a two week holiday, and it is nearing completion. Yesterday I constructed the props, securing them in the spinner and attaching them to the aircraft. Then I began work on the stand. As usual I am making this from scratch, using materials to hand. In this instance i am using a coffee jar lid, I have airbrushed it green and once dry will drill the hole for the post, which will be a recycled from an old fishing float. Almost there.
Ed Russell
On 7/17/2019 at 7:39 AM, Ruskin Air Services said: not many modellers apply the SEAC scheme While Mosquitos did serve in SEAC, this one is a RAAF example. UK built, used by 1 Sqn for about 4 mths then crashed on takeoff from Labuan airfield and scrapped. Nice work Shellie.
Shelliecool
With the paint dry on the base I sealed it in with a coat of Quick shine gloss, and set to work drilling the hole in the underside of the fuselage for the stand to go in. This went well but took a while, mostly because I wanted to ensure nothing went wrong. Once the varnish on the base was dry I drilled a hole in it and set the post in place. Only a coat of satin varnish needed for the aircraft, and it can be mounted on the stand. Almost there.
Shelliecool
Yesterday I gave the build a coat of Vallejo satin varnish, and today she is finally secured upon the stand complete. This has been a challenging build, the age of the kit showed itself mostly in the moulding of the undercarriage doors, and general fit of various pieces. However, it has been a good challenge and I have thoroughly enjoyed building this beast of an aircraft. I will post some more photos in the ready for inspection forum. Thanks for joining me again.
