Swiss Airforce Pilatus PC-21

Recommended Posts

This 3D Blitz Model Pilatus is my latest completion. I used a set of Matterhorn Circle decals for the markings and with the exception of some foil belts on the seats and the scratch built aerials everything else was as it comes in the box.

It's a bit photo heavy so I apologise in advance and thanks for your patience.

Love it - great build. Have it too in my stash. How is it to build? And what did you use for the red? Looks spot on for me.

Thanks Michael, I am really pleased that you like this one. The kit goes together well and builds nicely out of the box with scope for adding some of the missing details if that is your thing. A couple of areas to be aware of are the main undercarriage legs where the numbering is crossed in the instructions. From the outset I felt that the propeller looked as though the blades were reversed with the longer curve section of the blade facing the rear of the aircraft (see photo). I had not fixed the propeller assembly in place at this point so simply removed and reversed the blades, but a better solution could be to remove and add a new locating pin.

For the red colour I have used Tamiya's Italian Red (TS-8) from a rattle can

Hope that this helps when you get around to building yours.

Thanks for all of your kind comments guys they are really appreciated. This kit was a dream to put together requiring just the odd spot of filler, but some of that could have been down to careless assembly on my part. :)

Cheers again.
