Looking For A 1/48 Bf-109 G-10

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a 1/48 Bf-109 G-10 Erla for a specific build I am wanting to do. Does anyone make one? I Googled it but am not coming up with anything other than a Mtt Regensberg (or something like that) what ever that means.

I am not too worried about the brand as long as its a good quality kit.

Eduard is your best option. The 1st option is the top standard kit.

This one ⬇️ is an over trees kit. Nothing but the plastic no instructions decals or extras. Great if you have decals already. Instructions can be gotten from Eduard online or other locations.

There is also an over-trees kit of this kit ⬆️ as well. I hope it helps ?

The drawings here will help see the characteristics of the Erla built machines:

Note particularly the left side panel immediately behind the air intake is square shaped, which must alter the shape of cowl when viewed head on compared to what other G10 manufacturers were doing.  Also a decision has to be made whether you want to depict an early or late version,  and some access covers need to be removed.

regards,

Jack

Revell did a G-10 some 40 years ago which was considered best 109 F/G/K in any scale at least until the Fujimis were released. Not sure which manufacturer it represents but it is based on an example preserved in the US (Chino, IIRC), and Revell apparently had a very thorough look at it - with the possible exception of the engine fairing, which may not be quite asymmetrical enough.

The WNF made Me 109 G10

The WNF-manufactured G10 are the only ones which survive to this day. Heavily based on the G6 MW50, they used the fuselage "moons" on both sides and the cowl sets from the K4 model.  As their production started at a much later date than Erla, all WNF G10s seem to have used the larger wheels and the new wing.

see here for more detail on the cowlings,

Bf 109's were built at 3 factories as well.

No.  There is no kit.  A chap in the USA has been making resin conversions at a decent price for them.

My sets are easy to find by going to Ebay and searching seller "109ace".  A google search of 109ace will also bombard you with pictures of my sets and links to the listings.

post here as @hofnerbassman  on occasion,

I think this is pretty clear from the previous posts, but to sum up: late Bf 109G’s were manufactured by three different companies: Messerschmitt (at Regensburg); Erla (at Leipzig); and WNF (which had two assembly facilities - one near Vienna, and the “Diana” plant near Tisnov in what was then the Czech Protectorate).

Each of those facilities had its own “chain” of sub-contractors and parts suppliers, giving their G-10’s variations in internal equipment, and exterior appearance. The external differences between Messerschmitt and WNF aircraft are limited to subtle aspects of the nose gun fairings and various small access hatches, but Erla’s G-10 had unique and extensive changes - the whole nose was subtly different from any other 109.

Currently the only mainstream injection-molded kit of an Erla G-10 is, surprisingly enough, in 1/32 scale by Revell. No 1/72 or 1/48 kit is available, though aftermarket conversion sets are made.

The late 1970’s-vintage Revell 1/48 G-10 kit still makes a respectable model, and represents a WNF/Diana machine. Hasegawa makes a very nice 1/48 G-10 which closely replicates Messerschmitt production. Eduard’s recent excellent 1/48 kits cover both WNF/Diana and Messerschmitt G-10’s, and they have announced that an Erla variant will complete the set later this year.

Not relevant to the original post, but I stand corrected on one point: AZ Models has just released a 1/72 scale Erla Bf 109G-10!

Looks like early and late versions will be available, the latter being the first release and now at Hannants...

Eduard most assuredly makes a Bf109G-10 Erla.

not listed on their site.

They make an Erla G-6 though

They do AM for the 1/32nd Revell kit as well.

Or, have I missed something?

Eduard have a 1/48 G-10 Erla slated for release sometime this year, according to their 2019 catalogue.

Doing an Erla G-10 though is gpoing to be a good idea, if they get the cowls right,  though I imagine they will have the same exhaust problem, as the exhausts are onm a common sprue?
