what a beautiful design

Yes it was, very appealing, even with that hulking Curtiss D on stilts over the fuselage.  Seems to work somehow.  There were two entered in the races in 1925, a red and a silver.  I am partial to the red but it didn’t make the cut.  The silver came in 3rd.

The tail surfaces look fine

Thank you.   Yes, I’ve thought about using thick card but I’ve got Woodman’s method pretty well sussed out now and I’ll stick with that.  The balsa is shaped in a jiff and the rest follows along easy enough.  Very pleasing to see it all come together.

Incidentally, the Caproni is looking very nice.  All those tiny pieces.

Fooling around with a Macchi M.67 3 bladed prop

I’m a bit of a fool for that M67 too ... when 12 cylinders is not quite enough, but your innocent mind does not yet stretch to the 24 cylinder fantasy of the MC72!

I have used printed decals on brass paint or even brass-painted (Alclad) decal base.

This may require some trials, but it's sometimes convincing:

Thanks Moa!  Can’t think of a better mentor to follow!
