Reini78
#15/2019 The second of five Emils done. Eduard E-3 Weekend Edition, mostly Cutting Edge decals, the large Balkenkreuz were taken from an Eduard E-3 ProfiPack, plastic rods and lead wire for the brake lines, EZ Line for the antenna wire, Gunze aqueous RLM 71/02/65. Furthermore shortened the too long legs about 2-3mm to avoid the "storch" look. Build thread here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235053119-walking-bird148-messerschmitt-bf109e-3-jg51/ The model shows the aircraft "Gretel" of Oberfeldwebel Johann "Hans" Illner, 4./JG51 during the BoB. Like this, most aircraft during that time received an individual field camo job. HansReggelsen
What a nice model! What's the story behind the oversized overwing balkenkreuze? Cheers Hans J

Don´t know if there´s a special story behind it. I guess it was only for better recognition.
Robert_
This is a wonderful representation of an early 109. The build and finish look awesome!
Spitfire31
Excellent build and it's clear that an expert air brusher has created the camouflage! Uschi van der Rosten's round rigging thread might be more convincing for an antenna than flat EZ Line, though… Kind regards, Joachim

He said it´s hardly responsive to CA glue, on the contrary to EZ Line. So he sticks with the latter one. thank you both!

Exactly, it is a carry over from early days of the war in the West, were due to friendly fire episodes some units enlarged the original factory apllied upper wing insignias (and not just fighters, bombers with oversized and sometimes duplicated Balkenkreuz are also seen in several photos). 2
