10.5cm leFH 18 (Sf.) auf Geschützwagen 39H(f) - tracking along

Recommended Posts

It does look a real pest making tracks. How do you know if something has vinyl tracks? Thanks Robert, I shall watch how the German armoury comes on in this and the Panzer GB...

Check reviews, ask other modellers, or look in the box.

Reviews come along when a kit is first released, but manufactureres can change spec, the Zvezda Tiger I had vinyl tracks when released, but now has link & length.

Probably the simplest/safest advice is to go with Tamiya to start ... but check with other modellers.

And take a look in the current Tiger STGB, see what is happening there.

Hello @Valkyrie

That is Vallejo Surface Primer German Dunkelgelb, RAL7028 with a bit of their own airbrush thinner.  I like it, it sprays well (if you spray at the correct pressure).

The paint is OK if you use a hairy stick.

Thanks Stix

Front gearbox cover glued on, and running gear started

A feature that surprised me - it isn't obvious from the instructions - is that the bogies can be built as articulated.

The track probably wont be flexible, but this extends the scenic options, assuming I go that route.

Nice progress Robert, it looks a nice little kit. With the movment on the bogies, you just need a nice train track for them to go over.

Started working on the tracks, each link is seperate ...

The instructions don't say how many links per side, I'm guessing between 90 and 100.  This is the first fifty links.

Individual links are not glued - yet, they may never need it. I did crush some guide hornes, and have repaired those.

That's an added bonus with the moveable bogies Robert and it looks like you are making good progress with the tracks. It's always nice when they are out of the way!

Kind regards,

Stix

This is coming along very nicely. Will make a great target for my Firefly! :wicked:

Nice work with the suspension and tracks.

Bit sleepless in the small hours today, so I made a little progress ...

lefh-014.jpg

... started assembling the gun cradel.

The fuzzy things in the fron are meant to show that I've also painted the wheel rims a dark metalic grey.

I've started making the base for this - using pizza bases.

The rough, pink, base will be used here, the other two are for Tiger tanks.

A description of what I've done is here:

Not posted for twelve days, and this thread is half way down page two!

A Small update - about a week ago, I added some plush (faux fur) to my bases, this is the one I expect to uses for the Geschützwagen.

I need a new sporran too. That actual would be nice. Will like to see this

It is about the right size, but is synthetic - it shouldn't be too difficult to make a sporran like this?

Well over a month since I last posted something on this.

I have done some work on the gun support, and base-coated the superstructure in DunkelGelb, this is now inside and outside.

The aluminium barrel needs retouching - running it into position stripped paint patches from the top and bottom sides.
