Hopefully those who are living in Europe have got their Starfighters by this month from (Lucky models?) My two Airfix Hawker Hunters are still in their storage facility after ordering the both of them in April. The irony is that HK is only 2402 km away from Malaysia. I was thinking of getting more Kinetic kits before that but the non- delivery really put the plans off.

Referencing Tiger331 about accuracy.  There was a certain manufacture in California who was going to produce a kit of a 1/32 Spirit of St Louis or Ryan Special.  Design work was finished and moulds were cut, test shots produced, corrections made, more test shots.  I have seen the build up and it was absolutely stunning.  This was 15 years ago.  Have you ever seen the kit on the market?  No, because the manufacture was so intent on absolute accuracy that the tool maker said no more at some point and all money was lost.  So doing a kit with a balance between accuracy and affordability is just good business.  Raymond's F-104's are a good case in point.  Perfect?  No, but very accurate and they are affordable.

AT LAST !......Someone who understands precisely what I was talking about. I also have a good friend in the business who now realises that he has lost thousand's through a very noble quest for accuracy, which is great, but has not paid his bills or, more significantly, provided the funding for other projects he is desperate to do. As I said, its all about balance without making obvious compromises.

Did you order stuff "in-stock" or other?

I really recommend to only order the former with Luckymodel!

Or / and use their inquiry / contact feature. You get quick and reliable answers! If necessary simply change / cancel your order!

I just received a surface parcel 3 months after ordering, great service!

Looking forward to the AMI Starfighter as soon as shipping is reasonable again the next time :)

Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumours of the F-104G/S kit being available from UK retailers anytime? Seems like a heck of a long time ago it was announced as released and I do know that it can be obtained through East Asian online outlets, but I'm a tired of getting cards from FedEx and Parcel Force asking me for more money than than has been spent on the war in Afghanistan.

My Kinetic "Spilone" arrived two weeks ago from Domino Model (Belgium) - 6 items were available - now sold out.

https://www.dominomodel.com/en/p/13857244/f-104s-starfighter-italian-air-force/

36,00 EUR kit + 4.00 EUR P&P Mondial Relay = 40,00 EUR VAT & P&P incl. or £ 34.50 - Not bad

Pity I missed that as it is a very good price. Obviously I'm a bit stuck in my ways and should broaden my shopping horizons, but I still wonder that if they've made it to Belgium then why no UK retailers have had any stock.

Will the Kinetic release have the correct NACA style duct that are common with the F-104A/C?

Yes it will. That was one of the first things I checked for when I viewed the new F-104C sprues on display at the IPMS-USA National Convention last month.

This kit is now being marketed as an F-104A/C. Did you happen to notice if wingtip missile rails are included in the kit rather than tanks?

Thanks

Jon

56-0906 was an F-104C. I was hoping for F-104A decals to be included with the kit but as great as the Kinetic F-104s are, I'll find some after market F-104A decals. The extra expense will be well worth it!

As I recall, the Kinetic distributor had only one sprue tree on display - the one pictured a few posts back containing fuselage and wing parts.

But I’m pretty confident the wing tip missile rails will be included as we saw them on the F-104J release.

I’m curious to see how they address the underwing pylons, the instrument panel and its hood, all of which differed from the export variants.

Apropos of nothing, it's a pity that's just a black and white rendering of the SEA camo, as I really like it as a 4-tone grey camo.

That's what WHIF's are for. ;)

Does anyone know yet if the underwing pylons on the F-104A/C kit are perpendicular to the underside of the wing rather than perpendicular to the ground as on the F-104G?
