Metal TARDIS

Recommended Posts

This is my first attempt at a metal kit. It's not perfect, as I had a lot of trouble with some of the very tiny pieces, but overall I'm happy with the end product.

It stands about 9cm high to the top of the lantern on the roof. Assembly was straightforward - you just fold the parts to shape and insert the little tabs into slots and fold those over to stop them coming out again. (This is where my Bug folding tool proved to be invaluable.) The only place I had to cheat and use CA glue was the door handles - it was hard enough getting them fitted in place and I found it completely impossible to fold the tabs. The carpet monster swallowed up two of the handles; fortunately the makers supplied a couple of spares.

This is the packaging:

And the parts (PE steel):

You'll notice that only the upper sheet appears to have the surface detail printed on. Well, both sheets do but I deliberately scanned the lower one plain side up to show you what that side looks like. Yes, that's it!

Very nice indeed, shame the light doesn't work :like:

It does work, but only when the thing is dematerialising!

And what about the interior? Is it bigger than... ?

Unfortunately not. It would be the ideal place to keep my stash!
