Just had a major flashback to building this kit as a kid! I think I got more silver paint on me than the model, but loved building it.

Put it together, and done the main sanding and sprayed the first coat of silver over brushed sliver, still got marks to sand out

Spraying been delayed by the poor weather in the uk but done now and painted a few areas ready for the canopy to go on, should also paint the nose blue, but best to do it and the decal once it’s in situ

And it has failed, closest match isn’t close enough, looks like a careful paint job around the decal will be needed

Carefully painted it and the black and silver nose tip, of course seems the correct shade should be much lighter than the dark blue airfix printed the decals in so will have to repaint it a lighter shade

Great work on your F-80. As I'm in the process of getting one of these Airfix kits. Is there anything i should know or look out for ? I know theres a minor shape issue with the cockpit opening ? Other than that anything like fit issues ?

Happy birthday (belatedly) and congratulations on a nice looking Shooting Star. The blue salvage job worked really well 👍
