I'm currently building the new Special Hobby P-40K and was wondering if the RNZAF and RAAF versions would have used US or RAF type seatbelts?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I think U.S. type but maybe @Troy Smith might be a better authority on this matter, You can also search for RNZAF P-40E's and K's as there were several really good discussions on RNZAF Kittyhawks a while back.

HI Peter,

The RNZAF P40K would have US version of pilots seat harness - by this time of

war in the Pacific, the RNZAF had been attached to the USN, so a lot of US equipment

was being used by Aircraft/Aircrews, especially in forward operational areas.

Note: the RNZAF markings portrayed by Special Hobby, the actual Aircraft NZ3061,

didn't serve overseas, but stayed in New Zealand, as an advanced trainer.

Regards

I am soooo sorry, Alan, but I couldn't remember your user name, and I knew Troy might be able to help Peter out. Thanks for your post, which I will file with all the other RNZAF Kittyhawk goodies you have given us! 😥

The RAAF used RAF style Sutton Harness.

PIc is of F/L Allan Hodgkinson in a No. 77 Sqn P-40K.
