Ham Hands
I am reading Barrett Tillman's, Whirlwind. Pacific Air war against Japan 1942-45. Tillman's book contains many fascinating anecdotes. Oliver Rasmussen's amazing story is just one of them. Oliver Rasmussen's amazing survival following a crash landing on mainland Japan. Edited May 20, 2019 by Ham Hands Screw up. Gmat
Interesting story. Glad it came out OK. Some others weren't so fortunate. Thank you for the lead. I remember a another different story from long ago where an American shot down over Japan was provided some aid by a Japanese local rather than being reported to authorities or even attacked. Forgot where I got it from. Grant
Ham Hands
Airmen were often thrown to the local population, who then beat them to death. One did not fare well when on mainland Japan. Or in fact at sea. This man was amazing, yet he and his pilot were treated disgracefully. Bruno Peter Gaido.
