AntoineG
Hello, Here is my latest finished model: a Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat. The kit is from Airfix. It is a lovely model which was a joy to assemble. The only additions are the seat belts from Eduard, the instrument panel from Yahu and the gunsight from Quickboost. Decals are from the kit. I prefered to paint the white and red strips on the tail though. For the paints, I used Gunze aqueous: - H325 for the underside USN Light Gull Grey - H56 + H337 (few drops) for the upper side USN Blue Grey Hope you like it. Cheers, Antoine
Mark Joyce
Great looking Wildcat, Antoine! I've tried painting similar tail stripes in the past as well, but mine haven't come out nearly as nice as yours. And mine weren't even 72nd scale! Cheers, Mark
thorfinn
If that wasn't sitting on a picnic table, one might well be convinced it was the real thing. (Or maybe it's just a really big picnic table. ) Excellent and beautiful build!
72modeler
Now yer talking! Very nice Wildcat! Question- what are those chordwise strakes on the horizontal stabilizers? I don't think I've ever noticed them before. That's what an early F4F-4 should look like! Ditto on the rudder striping comment. Mike
AntoineG
Hello guys, Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated. 5 hours ago, 72modeler said: Question- what are those chordwise strakes on the horizontal stabilizers? Mike, those are attachments to fit the linkage with the main wings when they are folded. When checking some references, it looks like I should have removed them. 🤔 One good excuse to build another one 😃 Cheers, Antoine
hurricane39
Fantastic job. Wow. Hard to believe the detail in that scale and in such a diminutive size plane. Kudos.
