CliffB
Sorry guys, but I won't be building one of Blackburn's finest - rather an F-86F from the Republic of China (aka Taiwan), Air Force. I'll be using one half of this 'dogfight double' (having already built the MiG in the 50s NATO/Warpac GB). The kit includes a sharkmouthed ROC aircraft as one of its decal options. It'll be a late start from me, but I will be joining you for sure. Cheers Cliff
Basilisk
The ROCAF sabre looks very colorful indeed. You surely have by now built all the 1/100 scale models there are Cheers, Peter

It will be a first for me (and indeed my first Sabre). I finally managed to finish my Lockheed this morning, so thought I'd make a start on my 'teeth'. It's a simple kit and I'm not expecting any major fit issues (it's a Tamiya kit after all, albeit one from the 60s!). h', A quick tape together of the main bits confirmed the fit is OK, although there's a surprising 'see through' via the cockpit and main gear well. This will need attention... The other surprise, to me at least, is the cranked pitot tube. Is this right? I haven't seen this so far in any photos of real Sabres. Corsairfoxfouruncle
Yes the cranked pitot is correct. The photo's also show the color differences in the wings. Dennis Edited July 7, 2019 by Corsairfoxfouruncle

CliffB
Some progress to report. I've put a blanking plate over the main wheel well and added the necessary nose weight using chopped up air gun pellets. The tailplane is one piece and has to be inserted at the same time as the fuselage halves are joined together. Luckily I had read the instructions! Overall it's looking OK, but those wing fences are starting to annoy me. I think I'll have to do something. Currently I'm working on the ancillary items. The main u/c doors need some surgery - to quote the instructions "Cut here in two if your model is to be in a state of staying on the ground". exdraken
Looks nice! Just sand the fenced thin maybe? Or use spare PE? Can't be too hard I guess!

Yes, I took a sanding stick to them. They're not quite so offensive now.... Cheers Cliff

Thanks exdraken - if only I'd added some detail to the cockpit! Anyway, I'm calling this one done now. I was worried about how the decals would perform (60s Tamiya decals are not the best), but they turned out to be not too bad. A couple of larger pieces split as the baking paper curled during wetting, but the pieces could be reconstructed on the model OK. Peter Thanks to all of you who having supported this build and to Peter for hosting. Cheers fellas! Cliff
Biggles87
Very neat. Unfortunately I have neither the eyesight or manual dexterity for 1/100 scale anymore, although I did build most of the Tamiya series many years ago. John

In my case, the passing years have robbed me of my patience, so I now enjoy the 'quick fix' of a simple OOB 1/100 build. Respect though to those of you who still relish more complex projects 7 hours ago, exdraken said: turned out great! remember, this is 1/100!! Thanks exdraken. IMHO you can't go wrong with Alclad!
