Looks good Stix, that red primer lifts the camo-scheme.

Hi Robert and thank you. Yes that bit of extra colour does make a difference.

This is great!

Well I have never been able to finish a kit quickly enough to get it into the Gallery before anyone else posts their's.........until today!!  But it is only a Toon kit!..........and it was actually great fun to build!

I will probably make a small display base when I get time but it's now onto my Skybow Tiger 1 crossover project in conjunction with the D-Day GB.

Thank you to everyone who commented here and a few photos here - more in the Gallery.

Yep, that's no Toon! That's what Fiat would have built if they'd got the contract!

Great work Stix, the most menacing Toon ever! And again your mud work is top notch.

I've nothing against egg and toon models, they even take up stash space here, but your paint job, zimmerit chipping, and weathering on this subject deserves a much more scale appropriate model, I know you can produce these finishes everytime, but this paint job looks the dogs, top drawer stix

Other than the shape of this tank there’s nothing toon about it! Truly a menacing little battle worn critter :clap2:

Thank you RT. I think this kit does look less Toon like than some of the others.

Hi Glynn and thank you for your comments. I know what you mean but I just wanted a small project to work on before I start my proper project with the Skybow Tiger 1.

I have actually started doing some work on my Skybow Tiger 1 - but only assembling the individual track links. As I can't do more than about 10 of those at a time, without losing patience with them, I also started work on the base for my Toon KT.

These are the component parts:

They are a small Wilko's picture frame, 3mm MDF and some polystyrene packaging from a frozen pizza.

I glued the two MDF parts together and this is how they looked together on the frame:

Then I got the polystyrene glued on (on a bit of a slope) and, once set, I got some filler applied:

The paint used for the base colour was Humbrol’s Dark Earth:

A test fit with the KT in place:

Once the paint was dry I used thinned PVA wood glue to attach some Woodlands Scenics Blended Turf first and then some WS Light Green Foliage netting in some areas:

And a test with the KT at this stage:

Since this photo I have attached a variety of tufts but didn’t get chance to take any photos.

I'll hopefully get the base finished tomorrow.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Kind regards,

Stix

Brilliant Dio - loving it.

Thank you Steve but it's not really a dio - more a small patch of land - mostly covered by toon tank!! I enjoyed making it all the same.

Looks good Stix.  Have you toned down the decals?  I'm guessing you have.

Thank you Robert. Yes the decals were toned down with matt varnish, vaious streaks of very thinned paints and finally some stippled on very thinned Dark Earth from Humbrol.

So - over the weekend I got this little, fun project completed. It mostly consisted of getting a variety of Army Painter tufts and plants fixed in place followed by carefully attaching the KT to the base by inserting a screw from below.

The RFI photos can be found here:
