Thanks .  Me too. 🤪

Good start there Johnny mate.

Those parts 4 and 5 are for when you fit an electric motor , as was the rage back then.

Simon.

I thought as much. I think I asked the same question with the 109 too. 😀

Nothing done tonight as Thursdays is fencing night. 🤺. Although saying that I did remove the moulded wires on the merlin to replace them with lead before I went. 😇 A quick question though. @Troy Smith I think will have the answer. 😍 As I’m doing the MK1 the box suggests (ALK) would she have fabric wings or metal?

Thanks in advance.

Fond memories of this kit - it was the last thing I built before going to Uni close on 30 years ago. Always fancied having another go at it but haven’t got the space nowadays. Will have to content myself with watching what promises to be a cracking build!

Just came across this and I'm also in for this big, old classic. Nice start on the engine. Looks very promising.  Some wires here and there and it looks state of art, I think. Cheers

I think you're a cert for the metal wing, Johnny.

He would definitely have mentioned the glaring error if otherwise.

That engine block actually LOOKS heavy!

Aah cool, thanks Rob. I made that mistake with my swordfish. It was my first build and I really didn’t know any better. Chipping here we come. 🤓

You'll have fun with this. I built one OOB using the brushes, paint and glue from the kit just last year for my local model shop (just to show what could be done without any extra investment) and it came out just fine.

I retrieved it from the shop a couple of months ago and have started to strip off the decals (which silvered badly over the matt acrylic camo) and the paint. I intend to re-work it using my airbrush, Lifecolor BoB paints and some Techmod decals (Polish Squadron).

Got it built without using filler, but it did require some work and glue to fill a few gaps (mainly at the upper wing to fuselage joint).

I'll enjoy watching this one develop, and hopefully it'll keep me interested in the re-work of mine.

Nice work Flashman! Coming along really well…

BTW we caught up on our TV recordings on return from hols and watched 'The Bay'. They were trying to find 'whodunnit' and showed a witness some mug shots:

Late on parade, but I'll follow along if that's ok by you. Always liked these big old Airfix kits, and they beg for detailing!

Completely out of context here, but considering the epic build from last year I thought you'd like to see what just got posted on my Facebook page...

I saw your model and she looked great. I couldn’t find a WIP though. Will you do one for the repaint?

Hey youuuu guyyyssss.

How I managed to get some modelling in this weekend I know not. I was out for pretty much all of Saturday, meeting up with old friends, drinking some of the most beautiful and expensive stouts and bitters ever.

47832504842_6520977e3d_b.jpg

£9 for a half pint. 😳

Milo had a fencing comp today too.

40918017963_fcec8cd940_b.jpg

During the bits where I wasn’t doing that I worked with this.

47095113824_af0d6554e6_b.jpg

I wanted to add some pipes to make it a bit more special.

I used lead wire and heated up styrene rod.

46968355585_4c8baa0c32_b.jpg

here’s a shot half way through. 🙌 I’m loving doing this. One side done

40918022393_d18116ff7f_b.jpg

and the other.

46968355815_2c489b2846_b.jpg

And bottom.

47884420841_8d9155b470_b.jpg

Just the top to go.

46968356065_1f74c67c85_b.jpg

now although this is ok I have seen it painted and I just don’t like the look that the mould gives. Soooooo.

47884420811_78fcd477a6_b.jpg

away with it and replace with lead wire.

46968355485_27d152d116_b.jpg

That’s better. Hopefully it’ll paint up ok. It should. I glued all the top stuff on.

47832505612_13a5a63ebc_b.jpg 47884420691_8275d265d8_b.jpg 47832501462_bc0bed1ff3_b.jpg

next bits to do are the fire wall/ bulk head, is that what it is?

40918023953_f76aa75b56_b.jpg

Why so many pin marks on the detail side is beyond me. 😩 also these need drilling.

40918021723_f6872c6f0a_b.jpg

And a sand. Here’s one set dry fitted.

46968360585_909c3f6ce5_b.jpg

much better. 😀

Also these arrived.

47884420721_234fc3fc36_b.jpg 47832502152_f440d6eec3_b.jpg

woot!!

That however is it I’m absolutely pooped so it’s early nights all around I think.

Thanks for dropping by and as always.

Happy Modelling.

Was there last time on easter at good Friday this year on a very early pre summer day (roundabout 19°C ) at dusk till night. A moonlit night then there and I was quite amazed on that lake: dark, quiet and peaceful, but always slightly rushing sounds of water showing its power. So, a bit strange or odd, I imagined this operation there 75 years and 11 month ago moonlighted as then.

Cheers
