Simon.

Thanks Simon. 😇

Yep, very nice. For me a bit less dirty as usual, but it's  alwys a matter of personal taste. Great modelling as ever.

Cheers

Thanks. I’ll try and keep the dirt low. ... Ish. 🥰

Lots of wet festival action and work has kept me away from my beloved Hurri and BM to be fair.

48558642671_b9eeab96f0_b.jpg 48558641221_9221aac4b7_b.jpg

That’s me and my eldest on the waltzers in the dark. 🤪

I dipped into BM last night to see how everyone was doing. I still need catch up with lots of you but Ced made me want to get back to the bench. This morning saw some progress.

The first bay started to go together well.

48558780167_3887124c1f_b.jpg

the wires were going in place and the dirt was knocked back.

Just the bullets to colour and put the front wall on.

48558780222_1f897a589c_b.jpg

tadaaa! A quick dry fit.

48558779307_b3fcc1f76f_b.jpg

Lovely. 😍 ...... Wait!!! I seem to have some bits left on a stick. 🙀 I forgot to put the bullet exit chutes on. ( I think that’s what they are. ) here goes then.

48558779912_a02e2479a1_b.jpg

Much better. 😉

Now for the other one.

48558644231_976d7002b5_b.jpg

to be fair once everything is ready the assembly for these comes together pretty quickly. 🥰

After a tidy I remembered that I was retro fitting some wires to the back of the IP.

48558779792_1892b8f1ce_b.jpg

I bent these into place with some tweezers.

48558642296_3d3767f1bf_b.jpg

good enough for a passing glance. 😀

Next up are these bits.

48558644451_59316bd2e0_b.jpg

I’m out this afternoon but looking forward to a Sunday morning bench experience.

Thanks for popping in and as always, Happy modeling chums. 🕺

Excellent work on the guns Johnny. Reminds me of working on some nasty filthy SUU-23 gun pods and weapons bay guns for the F-111D and F.

Anyway, one of his descendants is a Sopwith Camel ("wree-oo-wree-oo!")

Looks splendid. And your gun bays too🤭

Evening everyone. More plastic glued and thoughts pondered. 🤪

I’m trying to get here.

48579973942_15f9ccc3cc_b.jpg

Lots of clean up and some straps added to the tank.

48579976457_428c1ff1ba_b.jpg

Tidied up.

48579975782_a01b149e30_b.jpg

Then all popped together with the newly cleaned walls and pipes.

48579832796_170926b84c_b.jpg

The central pipe will be added after painting along with other bits and bobs.😇 The lower section needs some attention but overall it looks like a good fit.

48579832641_50fb457eed_b.jpg

Next up is the air intake. Here are the bits.

48579832956_52337ec0d7_b.jpg

Some sanding might be required.🙀

48579975827_08c88c212d_b.jpg

Gerry suggests that there is a circular section in the middle that looks like this.

48579927271_c4696b8c36_b.jpg

so it has to be added right. 🤪

Apparently simply curl some plasticard around a dowel and plunge into boiling water. Hmmmmm let’s see. 🤔

48579975422_8a5aee0bd6_b.jpg

Not quite. So I cut and glued.

48579832681_b0725d7b4d_b.jpg

Alas. 😪

48579832981_5b711e1a78_b.jpg

The rigidity wasn’t there so I figured this pen.

48580073042_39bf7e3f8b_b.jpg

needed some Dexter action.

48579928951_75ab2dbb37_b.jpg

darn it. Too thick. 😤😤😤

a quick rummage through the bits box found these.

48579928661_ab9205590e_b.jpg

perfect. Five minutes and a mini Dexter later.

48580071947_04fa24612e_b.jpg

tidy up and we have.

48580071777_980f075579_b.jpg

perfect! 😇

I did the same again and added the middle section.

48579928891_d66399d79c_b.jpg

A quick dry fit before bed.

48579928666_9df9f0ef3c_b.jpg

The fit looks awful but it’s just my bad taping, it’s actually pretty good. And the other side.

48580071797_4749386194_b.jpg

all good. Primer next. I’ll need to spray that black before I glue.

Well that’s all for now. Thanks for tagging along and as always.

Happy modeling.

Johnny. 🌪

Just had a big catch up. Wow! Loved the gun bays in particular*. Your painting and weathering really makes the detail pop without being OTT.

if you want a thin circle you can always wind two or three layers of 10x20 thou strip round a paint brush handle somewhere along the taper to get the right diameter. Anchor it to the brush with a tiny drop of superglue then stick the layers together with a dash of liquid cement. When it’s dry you can pop it off and sand lightly to get a ring. There is a tiny 10 thou lip that sands off quickly.

Regards,

Adrian

* cockpit and engine aren’t too shabby either!

Nice work, but.... looking at the pic it seems that the inner circle is not sitting proud of the radiator but is a hole in it, with a separate circular radiator sitting level with, or just behind, the main radiator. .....

Thanks. I’ll give that a try next time. Hmmmm thinner. 🤔

If you are making a MkI Hurricane, then delete the circular oil cooler in the middle of the radiator. That was only introduced on the MkII Hurricane. The oil cooler was rectangular on the MkI.

Oh little this one?

as @CedB would say. “Rats”🙄

I think you’re right. It is a bit of both but it looks like it’s coming off any how. 🤭

Thank for the kind kind words you lot. 🤗

THANK YOU for that. I thought I was losing it... "what? how come I never noticed that? Thought I know at least something about Hurricanes!"

Too bad about the work you already put into the cooler Johnny, but the gear well looks as promising as the rest of the kite!
