Posted (edited)

Welcome to the RFI for my very first helicopter. The Kamov 27 Helix by Hobby Boss. It’s a lovely kit with very little to correct. I used :

Tamiya paints. (Acrylic)

flory washes

vallejo Paint (Acrylic)

Tamiya weathering powder.

ammo filters

and EZ-line

I scratch built the seat harnesses and some of the interior wiring.

without further ado here she is.

The detail is eye wateringly good. That heavy wash really makes it pop out. The rotor hub looks amazing, along with the distressed paint finish.

Inspirational stuff! 👏👏👏

Alan

PS. I had to double take at your title, you might consider rephrasing it 😂

For some thing so “ugly”, this one looks very attractive.  You are to be commended for achieving such an outstanding finish.

Very much the sort of machine that only a mother could love but you've done an excellent job of minimizing it's lack of beauty & made a stunning job along the way. Great detailing on display there. :)

I just love it! The harnesses you made really make a difference and look great and I just love the rotors.  I will have to go through your whip and see how you did those red lines on the rotors.

The dirtiest Helix in the Russian fleet!   Fantastic weathering, great seat belts.  You nailed it.  Makes me want to go out and buy one.
